All jokes aside, some of the better female bird names I've come across have been Skylark, Luna and Ganymede.

I've always loved the idea of naming your pet by what it is. Calling a parrot Parrot, or a dog Dog seems too fun.
Talking of that, I'm certainly having a Dog named Dog one day.
