[thoughts] Lack of incentive will kill this game within a few months after it...

Users who are viewing this thread

I know for sure I will play this game for a long time. Now as intensive as my spare time allows, later probably more sporadic. But it's a game that will last on my computer for years to come - I'm sure of that. I really don't see what you mean with 'lacking depth'. What makes it less than Counter-Strike? Just my opinion, but I find Warband much more enjoyable and creative. I really like medieval fighting, that is enough reason for me to keep playing. For people who do not really 'stick with the game', I think most of them will keep warband on their PC anyways. Look, it's just so different from other games. Even if you eventually grow tired of it - after a few weeks you'll be happily playing it again, just for a change.

And let's not forget single player. Though you mentioned this thread is about the multi, Mount and Blade Warband is not a multiplayer game, it's a single player RPG with multiplayer feature. Many players have played Native single players for years. Even though MnB Native gets a bit repetitive after a while. With the large amount of cool new features in the single player, I'm sure the game will live for years.

More depth to the game(not that there is not much already).--->

*More game modes(VIP Escort, Duel, etc).
*More maps.
*More weapons(since one has to get used to them, etc)
*More skills to master(riposte, directional blocking for shields, etc).

Well, I for one see something more here, more potential...hopefully the developers do to and maybe in Mount and Blade 3 we'll get the "more depth" game play added.  I can only hope.

Yes that my friend is depth. Though I would be ok with stat tracking. As long as I don't get any stupid pop-ups in game.

I think this game has the potential for much more skill-based combat than any FPS to date simply due to the mechanics involved, and I believe Taleworlds will do a good job of exploiting this for the benefit of the game.
I had my doubts when multiplayer was announced, but seeing the differences between 1.011 and the current version of the beta has waylaid those doubts - if things continue to improve at this rate I think the game will be a great success.

Here's one: what do you mean by "More Depth"?

  I never got that one.

Just more missions and that's it?

Here's one; make re-spawn in Battle mode, at least when you die you don't have to spend minutes watching some other guy hunting for the last 2 enemy on the other team, bored outta your ass.

Those who want statistics do know that it's easy to manipulate the "number of kills" and such? Right?

We all know who good players are because we see them around on the top of the charts most of the time. Or killing us. There's no need for "Look at me I'm uber" label.

If you want to add stuff to keep the addicted kiddies coming back to the game, why not add permanent stat tracking (nothing that would level you up, of course.  I'm just talking about recording your kills/deaths/losses/captures/etc) and awards/badges for doing certain things?  For example, you could get awards if kill 5 guys in a row without dying, get 1000 global kills by running people over on horseback, capture 500 flags/master of the field, defend a capture point/motf from 10 enemies in a round, kill 300 people with fists, etc.  Just things to keep people who psychologically need and addiction (I guess the gameplay isn't enough for some) to keep coming back.

Just don't do anything that would affect the gameplay (unlocks, leveling up, etc) and it will work fine.

That's why I added that they should be invisible to everyone but ourselves. I'd like just to know stuff, personally. I don't care about other people's stats.

... Go to Team Deathmatch?

The best thing about battle is that you don't respawn, so people actually try and stay alive.

I'm all for stat collecting if it doesn't affect gameplay.

Ahh, someone recognized it

Seen it enough times to know it anywhere ^^

I hope that A LOT more maps, with various ambientations, (andmore details: for example catapults in the siege mode), and strongh communities will improve the gaming time.
If someone have played Mount&Blade straight for years, i don't know why they shouldn't play Warband, for years
This is just the beta, more can be done in the next months.
Let see!

Unlocks are neat in say CoD4:2, but you aren't going to scope your warbow after you get 10 headshots with it.  Leave unlocks to the console market please.

Team Deathmatch?  Yeha sure, maybe when the game gets out and there's actually people playing that game mode that isn't down to "It's a duel server!" gimmic

That mode is called Team Death Match and is for impatient people such as you. You people are the reason why they can't have the credits at the start of the film anymore, you people would get out of there before the film even started  Instant gratification is the name of the game for you. I sure hope this game doesn't turn out like that and takes another route in order to appeal to more sensible and mature players.

You know personally I do not really care for tracking stats, what I care about is a game that is fun and challenging and has more game play to it.  Tournaments and Persistent campaign play against others is what I would love to see.  The stat tracking can be a bonus to those players that need it and many do.  They thrive on it.  It keeps them playing.  You people that play Mount and Blade now are but a tiny itsy small drop in the bucket when compared with the number of gamers world wide.  We're the die hard fans of this game(like me - we love it for a different reason than your average gamer), but the vast majority of gamers are in it for more than just whacking each other.  Why do you think games like CoD, Halo(xbox live) and BF2 are so huge of success?  Because they can have bragging rights and what not.  I know, I know, you hate it. Well so do I, but it is what helps sell games.

Look I was tossing out my thoughts on this subject since I have been around the gaming business for so long and have seen so many games come and go and the ones that stay are the ones that have exceptional game play and gives the players reasons to keep playing.  Take it for what it is worth.

But yeah- Is Teala already BORED with the game, to ask something like that?

I'd reckon yes.

LMAO!  I am not your average gamer.  I love Mount and Blade.  Sorry.  I have gamer friends though that bought it and played it for about a wek and then never went back to it.  I even told them about the multiplayer being added and described it and many are like yeah..'OK so you sign onto a server against a handful of players on a big field...OK...then what?'  Get the picture.
