In this week’s blog, we want to take a look at Skirmish mode, which is a brand new multiplayer game mode for the upcoming Bannerlord...

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/103

1.7K(+countless on standalone MP mods, ie cRPG) good enough for closed beta? https://steamcommunity.com/profiles...d to make new account cause I forgot password

Maan jeez, all these people actually hoping for being a participant for closed beta

They probably will choose participants among more special people.

Anybody else thinks the beta announcement might end up a mistake like in 2016? People are way overhyped now, even on reddit and in here with new people signing up exclusively to ask about beta lol.

If they really release the beta between this month and the gamescom, showing in the conference tangible material surprising the public opinion with a release...for example on September 27, 2019; it will be a success. Promising a beta, lengthening the process even further and watering fans down to 2020...I think it would be catastrophic.

In this devblog...only a closed beta has been mentioned (long term and without a set date) and everybody has gone crazy.

Thank you all for the nice words.

+1 Also to start moving the modding tools.

I do.

People overhype this but it basically wont be any different than gamescom 2016.
A minority will play it, some will put its footage on youtube and we will watch it.
Only difference will be that there will be more than 1 gamemode and players will be more experienced and good.
And also there will bemore stuff to watch because it will last for days.

While I don't think it would be catastrophic, what you're saying is very true. TW would look (and maybe be) especially dumb at this point to announce a beta at the start of 2019 and then not release said beta on the same year.

"We realise that this overview of Skirmish has probably raised a lot of questions about multiplayer in general, especially for Warband veterans. However, fear not! We will discuss much more about multiplayer in future blogs"

Can't wait to hear 50 more blogs about a gamemode that only 50 people in this world care about. *clap* *clap*

Given that - and now I'm talking against myself - is that really worth to develop AI, setting up sieges, and other complex single player features?

People look happy without them.

Please give beta access to forum community they deserve this many people writes and follows everysingle dev blog they deserve this !

Yes TW hopefully planned this announcement knowing that the beta would be ready for release soon. After all the drama of previous vague hints at early access, I'm sure they have learned not to announce anything that they are not certain of. I would be content even if the beta is the only thing we see this year but I hope this hints toward some finalizing progress.

Very glad to see this blog!
I don’t personally like 6v6 format (I prefer 9v9, 12v12), but this is the first blog I’ve been excited about in a while! I worry about the morale and point system though. I missed the boat for warband competitive so this sounds great!

Regarding people arguing higher-level players are better because they understand the mechanics and tactics. My point is that if one wants to test the average experience assuming this game wants to have a broad audience they are the single worst group to test on. Exactly because they aren't the average unskilled, idiotic and useless player button mashing their way through the game.
I don't think Taleworlds wants to make a game for the hardcore audience, the people who will pour in thousands of hours because that's too small a demographic to be commercially viable. You don't survive as a company by selling a thousand copies to the hardcore fans. You survive by selling a hundred thousand copies to the average gamer*. Of course high-level play is relevant but most people will never reach that because most players don't invest that time.
.
And you may be arguing I'm saying you should pander to the lowest common denominator but... yeah, I am. That's how you sell to a mass market.
So that's why I'm so puzzled why the forum keeps so strongly to a small, honestly not that important, part of the customer base. after all the hardcore fans will buy the game in any case. I don't think anyone who regularly visits this board is not planning on buying the game already. Even if we didn't there will always be hardcore fans of the concept. I think people should probably take that into perspective.

*or thrive by selling a couple million in Taleworld's case but that's besides the point.
