1a) Aren't modern consoles able to have mods? Eg: http://uk.ign.com/articles/2015/06/15/e3-2015-fallout-4-to-support-mods-on-xbox-one.
1b) Will probably still be a very good game without mods. I had plenty of fun playing vanilla mb and warband back in the day.

It won't likely be an all-time best seller but doesn't mean they won't make a profit on it.

Porting to console is a ton of effort. Anecdotally I don't know of anyone who only owns a console who'd be interested in bannerlord. It'd be a risky business move.
