Hand-crafted Czekan (the 29piercing damage warhammer) works much better than most of the other hand-crafted items, purely because PIERCING DAMAGE, more or less ignores armor. Sure swords and scimitars will land damage in 50s and 60s on cloth armor enemies, but they will only deal 20 or so damage on heavily armored enemies. Czekan = 40~60 damage guaranteed per hit disregarding armor.

Also, my argument for using the Czekan vs using the black mace (or any mace for that matter) is that it's THAT MUCH MORE SATISFYING to lethally pop a sharp hammer-tip right into someone's skull, than to only knock them out with a blunt weapon.

Then again, knocking troops out will give you a chance to collect a ****load of prisoners. And winged hussars are ~109 gold each with every ransom broker. Some reiters even more.

109 gold is nothing. one caravan trade and you can make over 90k profit if you are lucky. And if you have 1kk or more in bank, your money is growing fast enought by itself. Prisoners are not the right way to do money.

Hi,

I'm playing this storyline but have a problem, I gave the priest pafnuty that book, but did not follow him, now I can't find him (even though I used a cheat to see all of the map), what can I do now?

how do i start the quest?

well, handcrafted broadsword pwns when riding on horses and most off my enemy's refuse to wear heavy armor so i prefer that one (btw handcrafted broadsword just looks AWESOME, it's scottish dude)

Ask for special quest from any polish lord. They want you to burn one village. Go and talk to village elder and say you wont burn it. Then go talk to hetman. Then ask for any crimean lord for special quest to protect one village. When enemies comes, do not defend the village, let them raid it. I am pretty sure there was something else too but dont remember, sorry

So i should take quests and not complete them? Lol.
Oh yeah, cossack lord gave me quest to go get money from secret stach, however, i cant select the right password so that the elder of the village will give me the money

Unless prisoners can earn me 500~1000 per prisoner, it's not a viable source of income. The only prisoners I take are the lords, and even those I release unconditionally for relation pts.

If you can buy weapons like the hand-crafted series, you probably have at least a few hundred thousand, maybe a few million thalers; then prisoners become a chore (slow down your movement speed) rather than money source.

I don't know about you but many lords carry reiters and heavy infantry, and hand-crafted broadsword (I have that) barely puts a dent in their HP.

Also I think piercing damage also has bonus against cloth enemies....I recall hitting cloth armor units for ~40 with the broadsword 32c slashing, yet with the czekan I hit them for 50~60 damage with the 29p slashing.

Weapon speed isn't essential when you are on mounted combat because most of the time it's hit-and-run tactics, rinse and repeat. Range on the broadsword definitely makes hit-and-run easier, but if you control your horse well there is no difference; I can land hits with my czekan 100% of the time.

As stupid as it sounds, yes, you should "fail" those few quests  . You have wrong password. Try asking from 1 lord from every nation for password. Every nation has their own password for that quest. When you have asked from every nation for their answer, go back to village elder and try every password. That should work.

Jaques told me to go see certain cossack lord but he doesnt say anything
At start of game?
In beginning he mentions Zolotarenko who gives you a quest to deliver Tatar prisoner to Sich.

A question about the black mace. If I equip it to one of my companions instead of me, will the  +50 army size remain, or does it only work if I have it equipped on me?
I ask this because I don't have the mace yet and wonder If i should bother with it or not. I like my hand crafted sword and bombs xD.

You can craft??????? XD

I got stuck (again) and have a problem similar to THWolf's. I bought the book from a book merchant but needed someone (pafnuty) to translate it. He wanted me to escort him to Moscow which I did and after that he told me he needed 14 days (I think it was 14 days) to translate the book... It has now been 22 days and I cant find him anywhere...  :???:

He tells you which village he'll be waiting in. Village is selected randomly.

I think you have the effect (+50 party size) because you have the effect even then when it is just in your inventory. I havent test but this is what i think.

I don't remember he says he will be waiting in a village, but even if he did, how do I find him? do I have to enter every village, select the option "go to the village center" and search for him? or maybe I can talk to the village elder and I'll have the option to ask him where pafnuty is? And is he in a village of a certain faction or can he be anywhere around the map?
