Should I install visual studio 2017, if I have 2019 to try fix this problem?
Did you change the region in steam?Un-goddamn-believable. Hours of troubleshooting, reinstalling, booting with different configurations, going through firewall and anti-virus settings, and you know what fixed the issue for me? Switching my region from US to UK and language from English (US) to Engligh (UK). Fixed as in I got the launcher to work and I'm past the loading screen, about to start the tutorial. Good luck to everyone who still has issues, see you on the other side!
No, in Windows' region settingsDid you change the region in steam?
This worked for me, Thanks!!This worked for me https://steamcommunity.com/app/261550/discussions/0/2149847049321996712/ It worked for others having the same problem too as seen in 2 threads on the steam forums.
Guess there is something wrong with that file. Not sure how deleting it will affect the game in the future tho... but at least I can start playing.
Thanks for trying to help, but if you read earlier in the thread, several of us tried that (and every other idea that helped some people get into the game) and it still crashes after the splash screen and horse running in the right (no error just CTD, though we pulled several logs and posted them from event viewer.)for the many many many of you having this issue as i am as well (game starts loads loads loads..... crash to desktop before even reaching main menu) I have found a temporary fix that will let you play the game (hopefully) while we all wait for our glorious leaders to patch the game.
-Go into the your bannerlord folder, under /bin you'll see the shipping client folder.
-Find Bannerlord.exe (NOT native or BE)
-Right Click and set run as admininstrator, you should be bypassing the launcher and forcing the game to launch directly
*Hope this helps you all! we've waited a long time for this game and I know im enjoying it no matter how many bugs pop up
Update your windows it solved the issue for me, game requirest lates version of frame networkHi.
I've just purchased the game and when I click on play in Steam the game loads briefly and then doesn't open.
My steam sort of refreshes as if I had closed out of it without it ever actually opening.
->Click play
->Says I'm in game
->Game doesn't open
->Says I'm online (no longer in game)
Help I just want to play :'(

This worked for me! I did what you said and switched both region and language to UK and started the game. At main menu now. I was even able to switch back to US for region and language and the game will launch. Very bizarre.Un-goddamn-believable. Interesting, but mine seems to crash on banners/UI Widgets:This worked for me https://steamcommunity.com/app/261550/discussions/0/2149847049321996712/ It worked for others having the same problem too as seen in 2 threads on the steam forums.
okay i found a solution here, this worked for me try it out
I have tried everything but nothing has worked. Then, i have started investigate "rgl_log_7092.txt" at "C:\ProgramData\Mount and Blade II Bannerlord\logs" . After the last line, there is no loading message and it ends. The file in the last line was "std_TaleWorlds_CampaignSystem-zho-CN.xml". I have just delete it which locates at "C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\Modules\SandBox\ModuleData\Languages\CN".
Guys listen up, the solution was very simple in my case:
Just remove the file located at: \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\Modules\SandBox\ModuleData\Languages\CN and run the game.
Hope it works for you as well!
Same for me. did the single file and also tried the whole folder. still nothing.I have 36 files in that folder. I have tried deleting the one mentioned in the steam thread, and deleting all of them. Made no difference.
