Royalty - Commonfolk Behavior, RP Dialogues

Bloc's dev diary,

This is a really basic and small touch to current dialogues and scenes to make you feel like a real king/lord. It's extremely strange to see that in the game, even if you conquer the entire Calradia, you are still treated like no one in the actual scenes. You are not even allowed to ride which is.. absurd.

This small idea fixes that. Grants you to act like a real king by giving you a secure escort formation all the time, allowing you to ride a horse, everyone kneels before you once they see you, and their dialogues change accordingly.

Everything is done in ~1-2 hours tops, perhaps there are better animations in-game ( like bowing ) but I couldn't find anything better.

I know perfectly where such features would go in a mod that super immersive. Whisper to no soul what it is.

It's also extremely strange that a peasant can just approach emperors, kings, and lords and chat them up. The audacity of the player! This guy has been popping out these proofs of concepts in a hurry. The game can be improved.

"Everything is done in ~1-2 hours tops"... Consistently humiliating TW. Why not just hire him to implement this stuff since they cannot be bothered.

I've been asking for this since release. I've made countless suggestions where something like this should happen, if I had my old account I would screenshot, there must be at least, 10 of them, and TW has done nothing to improve the immersion experience.

Bloc made a rough version in 2/4 hours

Because the reason why this is not in the game is not because the devs are incapable of coding but they do what they are told by the higher-ups. Therefore, even if he were to be hired, it still wouldn't get implemented and he would instead be tasked with doing other things.

While the idea is great, they look artificial.

This is nothing against the modding done here.

I just want to point out with all the robotic (by animation) npc's of this game, ideas that would suit games like witcher/skyrim etc. do not work with this game.

The original moves npc's do just look and will look like (even after tremendous modding) simple if-else's from a programmer's perspective.

The core of the game needs more stuff going on with animations, behaviors, modals etc on its own, so that greater potential for additions can exist.

Can't blame the game much, though. Its genre is just different from open world rpgs.

Well yeah, the amount of great, amazing ideas that CAN be implemented are just not being implemented because of a conscious decision of not doing so by Taleworlds. Making this game from the ground must have been an incredible job, but their own lack of imagination, innovation and fear is what is makes them look ridiculous next to modders. Because modders try more and more, and there's of course a limit to have and there should be a consistency between features, but man, this game lacks so much it's just bad game design at this point, therefore, we trust the modders in this game's future.

Not really. If you look at the blogs of when CaptainLust was still around, you'll see why people were really hyped for this game. Something went wrong at some point and many of the features people were excited about were scrapped. The impression I had when reading those blogs was certainly not that the game would end up being like this. Bannerlord is not a bad game at all when you look at it without the context, the context being the promises made and hype built over the years and its being the sequel to Warband. But with it, it's an utter disappointment.

I vaguely remember a rumor about one of the veteran, leading developers leaving the company, he was in the engine department i think. That might be the turning point. Maybe he owned some rights over the engine and disallowed the company from using it so they had to scrap and redo, i don't even know if this is possible.

No it’s bad regardless. Combat is decent and has some merit but the first thing I look for in games like this is - does the world react to the player and other interesting world events. Are the power dynamics and characters interesting? Does the game build towards some sort of satisfying end and are the mid to late game fun?

This game fails in all those fronts

I agree, even with the undelivered features, the game lacks any improvement from Warband beyond graphics and combat, in fact it got worse in many areas imo

This would be terrific in vanilla other than that we still lack a gameplay reason to walk through towns in the first place, especially as a monarch.

But if, for example, going on parade through a town you own raised its security a little bit? That would be an immersive tie-in.

Well, I like the idea but the current design of Bannerlord does not really fit this kind of immersion.
One main reason is that the global pace of the game is too fast.
Cities fall too quickly, too easily and ownership switches in no time.
Day one = you take the town
Day two = you go on a parade
Day three = enemy takes back the town
Refresh...
Towns need to become a true strategical challenge for both the player and the AI...
Allowing major events to happen, giving a true context/reason for a parade in town.

EDIT
I kinda misread your post, sorry.
Making parades a simple mechanics to increase security/loyalty would not be a great idea though. I'd prefer see it like a consequence of some big event...

Again bloc does something that Taleworlds doesn't even think trying because he's concerned about to try and make it an rpg. My only criticisms are first the body guards should be on horse if the king is, second soldiers on duty don't knee they come to attention. The only other thing that stands out is the kneeling animation which is minor and could be fixed. It's a great idea and that he threw it together in just a few hours is awesome. I doubt if Taleworlds knows about the last few mods he's made but if they do they should feeling embarrassed in what he's done in just a few days.
