@ Assef
Little tip. Never, EVER ask for a release date unless there's one in OP, 'cause you'll get flamed. Big time. So don't ask, just wait. Cheers!

One idea that I think would help make this mod a little more unique would be having much more to do in taverns, including a wider variety of quests that are a little more involved than "go to x place and kill x bandits". This would make it feasible to play the game as an "adventurer" with a small band of men as well as as an Aquilonian lord with a huge army. I think that would be rather cool for a Hyborean mod...

@Spongly,

Yeah, that's my thought too!

I'm thinking in fill the taverns (Calradia ones are sad taverns, empty the most of the time) with some npc besides companions and troops. Say strumpets (there are plenty of them in the comics), tavern keepers being able to give you quests (if I can get help here, some would be 'dungeon type', like The Tower of the Elephant), drunks, brawler townguards, maybe pedlars and (but don't know if it is even possible) some kind of bet game (rolling dices/bones/whatever), bards playing some instrument, storytellers (quest hook), normal peasants (can spread rumours)... Uh, many thing in my head I think. But hopefully some of these would be a reality.

About the game concept, yeah, 'adventurer' type is the most nearly I can think. The game itself would be a little easy in some ways (boosted initial stats) but most difficult in other ways (weaker armors/armor penalties) to make your life a bit more hard.

Cheers!

I suggest making the plate armors rare(among nobles and elite troops) and making the chain armor the best armor availiable. I have a couple drawings from my book that I wish I could upload(drawings of Conan fighting 20 men in the Phoenix on the Sword).

That's right, if you mean full plate armors. Following Idibil tutorial I will implement 'light' (standard) and 'heavy' (with penalties) armor. About the armor types I've come with this:

Random samples info->Armor's name (armor value, wheight).

Light Armor:

  • Leather jerkin
    Paded jerkin
    Brigandine
    Mail shirt
    Scale breastplate (25,25)
    Chainmail
    Cuirass (30, 25)

Heavy Armor: (most of them are two light armors combined)

  • Chainmail & Cuirass (45, 55)
    Chainmail & Brigandine
    Chainmail & Scale breastplate
    Chainmail & Scale hauberk (45, 75)
    Mail shirt & Cuirass (40, 20)
    Mail shirt & Brigandine
    Mail shirt & Scale breastplate
    Mail shirt & Scale hauberk (40, 60)
    Scale hauberk (30, 40)
Full plate armor (50, 55) ->aditional info: well ofc, that armor type would have amount (10), difficulty (15) or something in the lines, and a very high price. Really high.

That is the basics of armors, would be some variants model wise (ie: cimmerian mail shirt) and some armor stats variants (ie: nemedian brigandine, 32, 27 (as opposed to the not so specialised aquilonian ones (30/30))). Same thing will apply to weapons.

Always happy to read your advices and waiting to see that pic,

Einskaldir.

Add a straight hair plume to the helm. I saw one in that shape in my book as well. Plate armor seems to be a supplement to chain armor rather than being strong on its own.
Cimmerian Scalemail(Picture is Conan from my book).

Bossonian archers were heavily armored. They probably used short/longbows and wore full coats of mail armor.
Suggested Aquilonian Weapons
Battle Axe
Kopis
Spatha
Pike(Gundermen)
Lance
Two handed sword

Skimmed the Scarlet Citadel for that info. First two are suggested by me.

Straight plumes/crest are nice and I recall one in an illustration of Pallantides as well, but I guess that type of marks are just for officers (not sure). Full plate armor would be over a mail indeed.

Very nice pic by the way I like the shield specially, and the details of the belt. Very useful resource to be honest.

Bossonian archers in the Mongoose RPG book are equiped with bossonian long bow, long knives, short or ancillary sword. Also wear chainmail or brigandine (or both if they can afford it). In that book also mention gundermen (with steel helmets or visored bascinets(sp?), shield and pike and mail shirt, most of them also with short or ancillary sword).

Nice weapons thoughts, I was thinking more in a falcata type sword than a kopis (initially was for argosean mercs) but they are very similar. Battle axes and two handed swrods would be in ideally.

Spatha intended as cavalry sword I guess, is also nice.

Cheers!

Hi, sorry for double post. I've been fighting against powerful enemies (read, the module system) without success. However, to relax myself a bit and add some real progress in the mod I've finished the Master' sword. Is far from perfect and still missing the specular. But enough words.

Not so happy about the skull and the horns, but anyways is nearly finished. C&C very welcome.

Cheers!

Handle and hilt is ok but you should replace that blade texture with a metal texture that you can tweak. In other words, don't use photo textures on metal parts. My computer is bugging out atm, so I can't really see the skull.

Yeah, your right, i've retextured the sword and tested ingame. Specular failed and still to shiny. Looks better in wings I think. What do you think?

Thanks Kolba!

And at least some advance in the project.

Ladies & gentelmen, I'm pleased to show you the amazing Theoris Decapitation outcome!

Updated info & credits given in the first post.

Stay tunned, more news soon!

Nice. Keep up the good work.
And may I ask if it is theoretically possible to have randomly spawned dungeons in game. 'cause we've seen it's possible with the bandit lairs.

About decapitation, do the heads just disappear or fall down like regular, well-known, decapitations?

Regardless, that's bloody awesome!!

Slowly working on some more stuff here

@Volkodav, thank you. That really was a pain. I don't know about dungeons but I'm pretty sure that we can have them, just changing the scene.

@Fraoliva, welcome back!

At the moment, the heads just disappear. SonKidd is working in flying heads if I'm not wrong. I want to do that but need a break from scripting (currently working on make it work Xenoargh's critical hits OSP). But is noted.

Thank you all for your nice comments and support, very much appreciated!

hope it goes well for ya bruh, im looking forward to this p.s. theres a Age Of Conan Game that might help you with ideas?

Replace the blade texture and make your own metal texture. The specular didn't work probably because the RGB levels are low or because the blade is already white.

Yea, that MMORPG was a disappointment. So much potential yet so much fail. Game had me hyped because I have started reading the Conan stories before it launched. I like some of the stuff in the game like the Cimmerian chainmail armor but the later tier stuff without any protective mail underneath it being more protective than mail armor is annoying. Still, some weapon/armor art in the game is interesting(at least the lower level stuff).

@Devil Keyz, yeah. What Gothic Knight says I suscribe every word. Also I really don't like so much thing about that game because are mostly fluff incoherent (brown haired cimmerians? WTF?, high fantasy weapon types, monsters and so on)).

@Gothic Knight, yes, i guess. But I'm not very good texturing blades I'm afraid. Anyways i give it another try.

And minor news:

Implemented modified Xenoargh's combat system (not the critic system yet, but the dodge one)

Improved decapitations
mb9l.jpg

And new shield (not finished)

Regards.

The decapitation looks really nice.

The only thing that's exponential good about Age of Conan is the music. To bad you can't use it because of license. :/
