Yep, something like that. Maybe 5000 top. And their level is 45-50 (so that their upkeep is high but not higher than their actual value).
On the one hand, their recruitment cost will be noticeably bigger than that of ordinary troops (which will emphasize their unique nature), but on the other hand they will remain affordable while not being overpowered.
hmmm should almost give us two different options(like normal noble troops)horse man or footman and make the foot better in almost every way accept horse back riding maybe +1 to all skills and and 50+to all WPs and maybe 3-4 to each stat?cause i assume your going to have to atleast upgrade them once before they hit max(also would like better archers then wardens they just look stupid it be kinda cool if we could customize there skills like where making a new character but with restrictions of course)also what you could do is a high intial fee just to be able to custmize them and a lower recruiting fee like 200000 just to get to customize them and maybe 1000 to recruit that way players dont feel like raging after one dies
 
Imho, best solution is making royal troops (households of the rulers) and this new custom troops stats absolutely equal (with the difference only in riding\athletics, depending on troop class). And what about their cost - price for naked unit 2-3k, but 10-15% of their gear cost added to hiring price, also better gear rises upkeep (but with some adequate maximum, 300-500 or so with 0 leadership)

300 is a top (if the soldier is a cavalry). For infantry/archers, it should be a lot cheaper (not more expensive than that of other top-tier archers and infantry).
Maybe it works the other way for other players but for me recruitment cost and upkeep are entirely different things.
Paying once is OK since I usually have a lot of money by mid-game. However, just seeing very negative weekly balance really upsets me.
Even if I had to choose between paying like additional 2000 aurums once OR paying additional 50 aurums each week, I would choose the first though it's obvious that the second option is much better (it's highly unlikely that the soldier will manage to survive for 40 weeks).
Though I second the suggestion that hiring cost should depend on the gear. Unless it's difficult to implement, doing this will probably be most logical.
 
Maybe instead of balancing the custom household troops or increasing their cost maybe you should just make a incredibly hard quest (probably harder than defeating the dreaded one) to be able to obtain custom household troops, or instead of making them custom you could just do something for like eagle,bluewoods, or other minor factions to obtain their troops.
 
Also, the bluewood is kinda looking like the noldor abit, i also dont really understand why redwood is the dominant elf faction even tho bluewood troops are better than redwoods.

That is a completely unrelated feature list, the fact that those were planned and did not get into 0.7 does not mean they are the focus of 0.8.

That will get a complete makeover soon. 2 coders that worked on a lot of those features are no longer with the team so things will have to re-organized.
 
OK - I know this will probably sound very, very...creepy. BUT
