Always try to be correct, not right.  Winning an argument isn't nearly as important as finding truth.
Quite, unfortunately humans don't tend to work that way, especially if "winning" arguments is an important part of their life. Facts, quotes and stats become blunt instruments for beating up on an opponent, and the search for truth is laid by the wayside.

A wise man once said nothing... And everything happend
The wise man said nothing, but farted spectacularly while his gay lover was using a match to see if his pet rat was hiding in the wise man's bum, setting his hair on fire. His screams startled the black cat that jumped off the window ledge on the street below, right in the middle of public hanging in the town square. The gathered crowd saw this as a bad omen, and the magistrates were forced to set free the condemned man. The wretch promised to the crowd that from now on he'll learn how to spell correctly. But he didnt an nothin realy happend.
If you don't say anything, at least don't fart.

Nothing is more important to your long-term success and happiness than to find something you are passionate about and to keep working at it no matter what.

What defines you isn't your accomplishments or your potential, it's how you handle the obstacles and use the opportunities in your life.

So you're saying that someone who's an ally currently will always be one? Because it's true now, doesn't mean that they won't turn on you tomorrow, or the next day, or the day after that...
