Greetings, Bannerlords!

War is proclaimed, you gather your forces and try to predict which of 3 your settlements the enemy is going to raid. After some waiting you decide to make a preventive strike and siege some castle. During the siege you see a pop up "Your city is under attack" which means the enemy is already assaulting it. You rush back in hurry, destroy the opposing force and retake the city. The king (or the queen) decides to give it to another lord.

Sounds familiar?

I find this lack of information quite disturbing. One could say that it is supposed to be like that in wartime, but somehow AI lords always know which settlement is under siege. Whilst the best you can hope for is a pop up telling you an assault has already started.

Fortunately, there's an option to fix this with a mechanic which would add more fun to gameplay and building of companions set:

The player can send one of his companions to infiltrate to another faction and spy for him. The exact amount of information he would get would depend on Rogue skill of the companion. At first the player will start to see the biggest armies on the World Map even if they are far away. Exact troops number could be replaced with a range e.g. 400-600. The more advanced the spy becomes the more information becomes available, the numbers are more precise and the player can be warned if some army decided to siege a settlement, even if it's far away yet.

Also this parameter can be mixed with how much time has passed since the infiltration moment. Let's say, in the early days of war you send a companion to spy, but he can't get enough information for you instantly. So there's still "fog of war" effect making you gamble and try to play safe and defensively. But when the time comes, your spy socializes with folks there and you start to see more and more. Then you switch from playing dice to playing chess.

And there's one more thing, that could extend this mechanic or even replace it:

If you have good relationships with notables in a village, they can pass you information if an army passes by.

What do you think?
