So is there any reason why it's MP only?

Are you too lazy to make a world map, towns/villages/castles?

I'm looking for too much work at the moment actually.

Is there anyway I could get a good look at your source code? I'm contemplating an east asian-centric mod, comparable to the native style of mixing the influences to create the factions facing off in a generic map. All of this is certainly way over my head, and worse case scenario, I use the items in native for fun. I'm in china(not chinese though), and my internet connection has to go through the great firewall, so I'm fairly boned on bandwidth. and thus multilayer has become irrelevant to me. I'm sure plenty of people would love the work you guys have put into this mod, though in a single player format.

I would love it if you started work on a singleplayer. As far as I'm concerned it would workout well if you used our resources. I can't wait until the module system is released.

Single player is too much work. To messy and too time consuming. If we are going to do single player it has to be after we have completed multiplayer. Too bad you can't play multi...  :???: Not sure what you mean with using our source code? You mean using all the models we have made?

In that case I think we should join forces...

I would be happy to contribute what little knowledge I have on the topic. I have absolutely zero practical knowledge on modding, however, so all I can offer is historical/martial knowledge and moral support.

As for the tachi, that is basically a katana in tachi mount (slung from the belt edge down, much like European sabres, rather than stuck in the belt edge up). Up until and including the Sengoku jidai, however, tachi did tend to be slightly longer and more curved than your average katana. They were cavalry swords, after all. Tachi means "big sword". "O" also means big, so "O-tachi", or "Odachi", means "great, big sword". Some of these swords were temple swords, quite huge some of them, and not meant for actual fighting. The one you posted a picture of is, perhaps, on the big side for Odachi, but should still be usable.

Hello  You are in, you got some valuable information. Send me your msn/steam and I'l add you. We have already decided on the music and a lot of the sounds. But we haven't got all the sounds for all the different weapons yet. That is some nice reference...will be used.

Is that a samurai mod of yours? Anyway I'll send you more info through pm.

Started on the ashigaru armor. Did the ashigaru have shirts and pants underneath their armors? I think I have seen many ashigaru running around almost naked with just the armor?

This article is a must-read when it comes to Japanese armour:

The Japanese Sword Guide is an invaluable resource for Japanese blades of all eras (including spear heads). They habitually exceed their bandwidth toward the end of each month, but here's the link anyway (will work come 1st of May):

Very interesting!  I was thinking just earlier how cool it would be to have a Warband mod based on the Sengoku Jidai.  I will be keeping an eye on this mod

By the way, perhaps it's not very important, but I thought I should point out that the Japanese term for a bow is yumi(弓), not "yami."  Yami means "darkness" (闇)

PS.  In addition to armor, will you be adding traditional clothes?  IE: kosode, hakama, perhaps even hitatare-sugata for upper-class soldiers?  Granted, these things would usually be worn under armour -- not by themselves, on a battlefield.  But, still, if you're interested, I can give you plenty of information on clothing of the era.

Ok the armor is getting better

I think only the ninjas will be wearing clothes, like black ninja outfits. With a few metal plates on the wrists and knee pads.

Well, no knee pads for ninjas. I may not be as profecient as the a few others on much Japanese history, but I do know that ninja's (and most anyone in Japan for that matter) did not wear knee pads.

I do agree with kote (greaves/metal splinters around the arms) and leg armor
