Wanna think i'm not the only one who misses their inclusion in the game. As of Release Version 1.1.2, only four classes in the game have access to them (Khan's Guard, Lancer, Cataphract, Dhruzhnikk). Perhaps it'd be worth it to bring them back to the game?
To start off the thread, here's how I think they could be re-introduced to Bannerlord:
Multiple Factions
New Weapon: Quarterstaff
- Swing Speed: 87
- Swing Damage: 55 Blunt
- Thrust Speed: 90
- Thrust Damage: 24 Blunt
- Length: 147
- Can be swung around as a two-handed weapon, or be used as a short one-handed spear
Battania
Savage
Falx replaced with Rhomphalia as the Improved Armor weapon
Rhomphalia replaced with Falx as the perk weapon
Falx speed increased from 97 to 102
Falx can be one-handed again. Stats identical to its earlier incarnations prior to one-hand stance removal
Reason: Looking at the history of the Rhomphalia and Falx, I don't think it's even possible to balance the former around having a lousy two points of armor when the Falx deals more damage and is faster ON TOP of being tied to Improved Armor. I think the best way to go about the 2h cut weapon balance would be for the Falx and Rhomphalia to switch places. A Falxman would be extremely fragile, but can do huge chunks of damage in a short time and if left alive for long enough, can be one of the most versatile units in the game with a shield and whatever throwing weapons he finds off the ground.
Fiann
Noble Two-Handed Sword can be one-handed again, complete with its terribad one-handed stats
New Mechanic: Humiliation
Upon scoring a kill with a one-handed Noble Two-Handed Sword, the server will print a system message in the chat log saying "PLAYERNAME was fatally embarrassed by PLAYERNAME". Scoring a humiliation will net extra gold based on the following circumstances:
Player is a Peasant Levy or Rabble with the Looter perk, or is a Raider with the Blood Money perk: 5 (TDM only)
Every other situation: 10 (all non-Captain modes)
Reason: Yeah, the one-handed two-handed sword is pretty bad, but I imagine that if we're to see the return of bastard weapons, it's probably only natural that the Noble Two-Hander becomes one again. Suppose if a player manages to style on his enemies with an intentionally bad means to use an otherwise good weapon, he should have the satisfaction of publicly embarrassing his opponent on the server.
Aserai
Guard
Improved Armor replaced with Quarterstaff
Sturdy replaced with Improved Armor
Reason: Aserai needs additional sources for blunt damage, and there's no reason to use the Tabar when Sturdy does the same thing as the Improved Armor perk. Replacing Study with Improved Armor will improve visual feedback as to which Guards have increased armor, as well as free up a Perk 1 slot to squeeze in a blunt two-handed weapon. Since the staff is a bastard weapon as mentioned in the "Multiple Factions" header, picking up a shield will allow the Guard to use his stick as a short spear.
Empire
Legionary
Melee Expert replaced with Bastard Weapon:
Movement speed bonus increased from 5% to 7%
Upgrades your one-handed weapon to a bastard weapon
- Sword and Shield: Long Spatha replaced with Vlandian Bastard Sword
- Axe Specialist: Imperial Heavy Axe replaced with Imperial Battle Axe
- Mace Specialist: Imperial Heavy Mace replaced with Quarterstaff
Reason: Barring one specific flaw, Empire is a pretty average faction that doesn't really have much going for it. Giving the Legionary a Bastard Weapon perk could give players an incentive to spend more gold on their respawns rather than play the lower-cost classes exclusively.
