As a small child, your father used to tell you stories of the Island of Oranos. Every day, as he put you to sleep, he would sing songs and tell stories of Oranos, and all its wonders...​

          "So, my son, you want to know of the legend of Oranos. The mythical island of Oranos, in the Sea of Kanquila, is said to be far to the west of Calradia. We in Calradia have always held Oranos as an object of endless fear, fascination, and desire; for its northern plateau was said to house an immense deposit of gold. Many Calradian kings have attempted to make expeditions to Oranos, but none of their conquistadores returned besides one; Sir Ulric Yorn Bradley, who served the late King Esterich I of Swadia. Bradley returned to Calradia a tattered mess, reporting of a massacre of his men. Only five had survived, who had all come back with him, in even worse shape. Sir Ulric Yorn Bradley's last words were, 'Oranos, Yyeccon, Oranos, Yyeccon.'
          "Three generations passed since then, with Oranos discovered, yet feared, as Bradley and his men shortly died after returning. No one knew what Yyeccon was, nor did they have interest in finding out. When Esterich I died, King Esterich II took his place, burned all of Swadia's records of the route to Oranos, and history turned to myth, myth turned to legend, and all knowledge of Oranos faded, until it was merely a Mythical place, magical and unreachable.
          “The conquest of Oranos became lost to the minds of the lords, and their focus turned to Calradia. One northern lord, calling himself King Burelek, rose up, creating the Kingdom of Vaegirs, and King Relin of the southern mountains soon followed suit with the Kingdom of Rhodoks. Barbarians invaded from the north, and savage horsemen from the west. The southeastern Sarranid peoples expanded their empire further into Calradia, taking the Swadian strongholds of Shariz and Ahmerrad, and Oranos laid in the sea, it’s riches forgotten.
          "You, my boy, are descended from a long line of wanderers, descended from Ulric Yorn Bradley himself, though our humble possessions may speak otherwise. And one day you too, my boy, will travel to Oranos, and see its wonder, for better or for worse. Bradley succeeded, yet he discovered the one truth in this world; The Myth of a Legacy, and that may just be what killed him."


Your father started to ramble on...​

          "His legacy is declining, and he knew it since he left Oranos. No man is remembered throughout time as he is, yet a mere three generations later, the average man does know who he is. People talk of the great kings of Old Calradia, yet cannot name a single one of them. The are but whispers in the wind, son; the kings have put rumors out of the old kings to make their rights more legitimate; yet Old Calradia never even existed. The world is never going to remember things as they were until something changes. You see my son, you cannot expect to find good or evil in this world. Good and evil are but devices for man to create happiness for himself, in delusions such as greed, glory, and piety; and these will be the keys to changing this world. In man's own delusions, he may find his salvation...

He continued until you were asleep, then for many minutes longer. Though you did not know what they meant at the time, those words stuck with you to this day...​

Llew - 3D models, architecture (responsible for most of Gondor, Rohan) and lore stuff, very nice guy. Not active atm.
MadVader - coder, author of much of the war system, NPCs and companions, he also writes dialogue and puts brakes on our overly ambitious plans.
mandible - 3D tunnels props
Merlkir - concept artist, main 2D artists, texturer, very rarely a 3D modeler, custom animations, lore sage and overall a proper wanker. Did some voice acting too.
mtarini - coding wizard, voodoo master, mage, author of OpenBRF (made expressly for this mod!), all the shader magic is only possible thanks to him. Also the custom races. Attacking wargs, oliphants, orcs, uruks, trolls, windy flora and waving banners...all work properly because of him. Also: lotsa coding, map art (including map writings), animations, and a bit of rigging and modelling (like most animated map icons)...
Octoburn - 3D guy, did tons and tons of models, architecture bits, remappings & optimisations, a very nice guy who's been with us since the beginning.
Pagan - composer, voice actor, kinda Australian. Kicks ass. A whole new sountrack in the making.
Petrovski - voice acting
Romainoir - a young 3D artist, improved a lot since he's been working on TLD, much of the beautiful elven architecture is his work, many other bits and bobs, helped with scenes too.
Rongar - factionalized shops script
Taal - NPC dialogue
Treebeard - a coder from the PoP team who very generously let us use his battle AI and some other stuff.
Triglav - a 3D guy, texturer (pretty much all orcs, gondorians, rohirrim, dunlanders, corsairs and much stuff in others are his work), glorious scene maker (designed pretty much all towns, nature, epic places, etc), overall ass kicker and whip cracker. Pushed and pulled us through the worst.

The Innui Reanon
The Innui Reanon, also known as the Republic of Innui, or the Kingdom of the Lake, is a society of philosophers, scholars, artisans, mages and tacticians, their tactical might is legendary amongst the populace of Oranos, but so is their arrogance and vanity, which has given them a negative opinion amongst the Daegroens, Ishinowe and the Uulicate.

Though they are ruled by elected Archon Kyruii, it is common knowledge that he is merely a puppet for the Circle of Mages and the High Temple of Leune, two of the ruling guilds of Innui.

They make their settlements near the central lake of Oranos, as well as in the central mountains.

Testers Needed!

I am at the point where I need testers to report bugs, etc., for me. But, I warn you, this is not like getting the finished project early, as there are many bugs, visual and code related, so it may not be as good as the finished project, and in some ways, it will spoil the finished project for you. There are also many features that aren't even started yet, that will need to be tested before the release, which may mean that it will become more buggy during testing.  But still, it will be helpful to me, to know about all the bugs without doing a full playthough every two weeks or so.

Well, yeah, but I wanna know what else there is. I mean the story was about this land called Oranos, do we get to see it? Do we get to go there? And if we do, what do we find?

Mr.Gloom: Total conversion story mod. Not much more to it. The backstory starts in Calradia, then you sail to Oranos before you ever see the world map.

Zeus: I'm just going to expand greatly on the existing system. I.e., there's actually a point to having a wife, (other than holding feasts) and you can marry all kinds of characters; like priests, minor faction NPCs, NPCs associated with the story, and of course kingdom ladies. Depending on who they are, they may help you along in the story, (as this is a story mod) fight for you, or preform diplomatic missions for you.

Update: What I'm doing right now:
Bugfixing the backstory. You can see a very buggy version of the backstory here, but please note that it is in it's very early stages at this moment. :smile:

Edit: One of the bugs is fixed, it was related to my sprinting code (I modified the L&D code a bit too much :razz:) and caused a bunch of skills to be really weird. That's fixed now. I still need to fix a couple more things, though.

Wow... the map looks... full. I'm guessing the terrain wont be cavalry friendly?

There are a few more cavalry friendly places, but not many. Horses are way too over powered in Native, and this way I can make it a bit less OP, as well as make terrain advantages more distinct. There are still going to be a few areas with fewer trees/ flatter land, such as the southern steppe, and the northern plateau. Cavalry will be effective in those areas, but not in many other terrains. :smile:
