Involuntary weapon switch?

I have this irritating bug where I start switching weapons or shields against my will, sometimes in the middle of combat.
I've put this down to mistakenly hitting mousewheel in the past, but it even happens when not touching the mouse.
Does anyone know what causes this or is suffering the same?

The numpad numbers 1-4 can be used to switch weapons too. Maybe that is the case.

It could be the mouse freakin' out on its own.  I seem to remember one of my mice scrolling randomly toward the end of its life.  Try a different mouse for a while.

This might be it, OP. I've noticed this. It may be the mouse as well.

What I've noticed with my mouse, which does the same thing quite often, is that the "mouse sensitivity" option is often too high, or so it seems, so it changes weapons quite easily if I move it too fast across the pad, or lift it up a bit, the bump makes my weapons change. Try tuning the sensitivity down a bit, it will be worse for camera angle changing, but it might solve your problem, the key is to find the balance between fast camera and not being too sensitive.
