Hunting deer is hard. Back at 15 marksman I couldn't kill one. They healed faster than  could damage it.

And when there's more than one they're a *****, they don't fight back atleast iirc, but it took me and another person to take one down at a time, with melee.

That's why deer is for team hunting  And of course go for lvl 1 deers.
How to obtain PER
-Blueberry pie: an oven and wheat...
-Boiled eggs: need wheat to make the coop...
-Carrots: what if we don't find any?
-Raid ant nests and be lucky
-Sausages: needs metal for meat grinder...
-Hunt deers <- so far, it's the most easy and fast.

IIRC, it's a complete reset; the whole map and characters are going to be deleted.
