Although most of our development effort goes into battles and combat, we also want to offer players alternative gameplay. Be it a plot to betray a king, a dynastic marriage, or just a way to handle a thorny conflict between your bickering subjects, skilled persuaders can find solutions to solve problems and save a bit of wear-and-tear on their sword-edges.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/91

Callum's job isn't in the trash, but your reading comprehension might be.

And that’s it for 2018 folks! We will be back in the New Year with more blogs (with the next one due on the 10th of January), so make sure you follow us on Twitter and/or Facebook to keep up to date with all the latest Bannerlord news as we march ever closer to that elusive release date. We hope that you all have a wonderful time over the festive season!

Referring to the dialogue window -persuasion- barter system, why do you think there are no more lip animations? Will they have definitively scrapped it or will they be saving it for their application in the final version?

Well as far as I know they scrapped the voice acting. Lip animations don't really work with no audio.

In this last blog and in the one of conversational animations it is not commented specifically that they have dropped this feature...am I missing some data?

Don't you think in this video it's our beloved Frank who puts the voice? :lol:

I wish they got rid of the vocal battle orders. They are hard to bear with the moment you hear them. Voice acting is good if used in unique moments, but repetitive screaming from the hero makes you want to avoid giving orders altogether.

Man, you got a cold heart :mrgreen:. What I would propose is that if there is 1 sentence for each battle action, 10 more would be recorded so that it would be more dynamic and randomly reproduced at the beginning of the action.
I'll leave this to you to see if I can cheer you up with it.

In Bannerlord, an NPC’s behaviour is heavily influenced by their personality traits, but it is still somewhat dynamic in that it can be affected by their current circumstances. We developed a simple system which sets animations to the characters you are talking to based on their personality (among other things). To do this, the game looks at the NPC's personality traits, some situational parameters and aspects of the NPC's relation to the player to choose appropriate dialogue animations. It isn’t anything too fancy, and it doesn’t include any lip syncing or voice acting, however, we feel that it helps to make the world feel more alive.

It seems like there will be no voice acting when the player uses dialogue with NPCs.

I'd rather not have them mouth the words and make me feel like a deaf person... there is no way theyd have voice acting for it all. As for the vocal battle commands, I quite like them. As long as they have decent variety and customization to voice, to me it adds good immersion rather than everyone instantly doing a command that was not even issued beyond the press of a key.

I don't see any mention of removing the feature altogether.

They NEVER stated that the game was going to have full voice acting. Quite the opposite, they've told us that voice acting was kept to the 'main quest', which was a kind of introduction to the gameplay mechanics, like a big tutorial that could be avoided.
(once again, I won't search for the exact links to this info, you may look for it if you want to keep up-to-date with the development process)

Congratulations the hype turns 7 this year. You must be proud. :party: :party:

Curious how easy will it be to change the engine?
Every year your engine will get more and more outdated to the point upon actual release. Its released on a 10 year old engine.

i didn't read comments, so sorry if already mentioned / discussed...

I would find it really great if NPC could choose to barter/convince us with this system. In warband, i hate to fight and beat 10 times the same lord :

=> i already won 9 times against him
=> i have 300 elite troops
=> he has 50 peasants
=> he flee, i have to run after him to fight
=> he says "i will beat you this time !"

WTF ???

If in bannerlord, this kind of lord could realise that he will loose the fight, he could choose to convince us to let him go with money, or promissing to stop burning villages or (why not ?) to change his king to join us/our king or giving me their daughter or...

Please, add "intelligence" to lords on the campaign map :wink:

(please, give us the demo as said after gamescom)

You're right, overworld lord AI was hideous in WB. They just keep mindlessly looting the villages over and over again.

After gamescom? In August? It better not take that long to get the "demo" the full game better be out by then. If I have to wait 8 months to get the demo and not even the full game. I'm giving up. I was there when the announced this ****. I was a teenager. Now I'm a father of 2. I've seen battles and gameplay years ago where everything looked nice. Warband was the most biggest game I have played and one of the best but if this game honestly comes out in the last 3 months of this year I'm not buying it.

LOL!!! It seems you may not have been following Taleworlds MO.

This game will not even be out in 2019. New estimates put it for an early 2022 release date.

What? What is this? Are they seriously going to release it when Star Citizen does, if that thing even releases? Do they literally need an entire decade to make this game? I remember hearing about some BETA for people to buy to fix the game faster and add some stuff later, but I don't even remember when that was. I really hope they aren't going to be like Duke Nukem or something, it's getting ridiculous.
