Gamescom is around the corner, and as you may have imagined, we will be there showcasing Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. We can’t tell you exactly what we will show just yet, but we can at least confirm that it will be something slightly different from the demo that we took to E3.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/21

Ok. Here's the thing, I appreciate their honesty and I like that they're being up front with the public. That's all well and good but isn't it dangerous for a development cycle not to have reasonable and achievable deadlines?

Yes?

They didn't say they don't have deadlines. They said they're not going to give us one. There's most likely a ton of inter-departmental deadlines with fire-breathing dragons looking over their shoulders to make sure the deadlines are being met, with the end goal of "let's pull this all together for a release date of [REDACTED] but let's not tell anyone just yet in case we get a plague outbreak or something."

Okay, the plague bit is hyperbole, but the rest is probably 100% accurate.

Well...
We have not disclosed a release date so far because it does not exist. We don’t work like that.

I meant that they might not have an overall release date beyond a rough idea of "hey, 2020 sounds good" (or whatever) but it's likely there are deadlines within the company for certain aspects of development. To have zero deadlines at all, for any part of development, would be daft.

Now i expect an Easter egg in the game related to the release date.

Leasing a sword, and it having a date at which you have to 're-lease' it.
To cheesy? how about a prisoner which you can release in return you get a basket of eggs

Seriously though, I don't mind waiting, but it's a bit harder without a set date to which you have to wait. Still i appreciate them/you taking the time to make the game as good as they/you can, to many games/franchises are ruined by greed from people only interested in profit. Glad it looks like Bannerlord isn't making us the beta testers after we bought the game

Keep at it folks.

You know, i think you are right.
The plague can happen though, it's bannerlord they are working on, it's in the time period where there wasn't much to be found from the hygiene standards of our timeline
In general off course, there will be exceptions

Don't double post

You would be better placed to know more than me so I'm going to choose to believe you.

There are a few companies that operate without strict classic deadlines. Like Valve, for example. Old valve. The TF making, industry pushing, Hl1/2 kinda Valve. Not the hats n' Steam modern Valve.

Having NO release date is fine by me, i only hope Taleworlds have listened to the community about their wishes about Bannerlord, set a list of things to implement in it accordingly, and are working on the things on that list, one by one, finishing them until they are perfect, and when the list is done, the game gets a release date wich will be soon after. Every point on that list consumes different ammount of time, and they should foucus on getting it done the way they like it, rather than getting it done quickly. So thats why it is good they do not have a release date. It would be better if they only gave us maybe some progress percentage of different game areas, but not necessary. Im 28 now, my wife knows i will still be gamer by the time im 30+ and so on ?

Well, i guess i'll just have to forgettabout Bannerlord untill we have a release date. Those weekly dev blogs shows some good intention to heal the long time without any single news from TW. Altought, it's the second dev blog with nothing "devie" about it, just things that either we already know or we don't really care very much... As a devoted fan, still think TW is a great company and M&B is a great game, but as a consumer i'm really unhappy. I guess Kingdom Come: Deliverance will fill the gap that Bannerlord left on untill it's announced.

i think they'll guestimate for release but there not telling us.
it's actually fine by me but to they don't i think is pretty weird .
i think there pretty close to release and do get pressure of getting things done.
i think 2018 will be the year around june but that's just guessing XD
keep up the weekly devs i quite like them

Could you possibly touch on the more technical aspects of the game for example multicore support and other new technologies that will improve the experience from Warband. Also has the unit cap increased by much.

Honestly, I find the first two "Dev" blogs quite weird. First one is about people that allegedly working on "Bannerlord". Second one is about "no release" date. Okay, if you have no release date, why bother with a Bannerlord subforum?

"Dev" = development. People want to hear about features, game development and things like that. I don't know about others, but I personally don't care who works on what in the team, I want to see some features highlighted, technical specs discussed, other platform support, you know, things about the game, not about people, circumstances, and going ons at TW.

Can we get a true DEVELOPMENT blog?

The game looks great! take you time perfection come with hard work and time.
I love TaleWorlds you are an amazing company!
