If China has the authority to mod the whole East Asia gaming community of M&B, I may end up not buying this game at all if that is true.

It is not true at all.

Are these servers in question being run by individuals/groups handing out bans for calling Xi Winnie the Pooh, mentioning coronavirus, Falun Gong, forced organ harvesting, Uighur concentration camps, Tibet, Hong Kong etc.? And, critically, are these bans enforced on all Bannerlord MP servers?

No, and yes. Fortunately, the only people with the ability to issue any bans at this time are TaleWorlds developers. Unfortunately, their trust was abused by members of an external Chinese M&B community that they had delegated the responsibility of vetting reports on the Chinese servers to. See here, where Callum clarifies that the users with political incidents were actually falsely reported as cheaters:

We have already responded to this, but allow me to reiterate. We are the only ones with access to our backend services. The bans were processed in good faith after being reported to us as being cheaters. All of the bans were later reduced to 1 week.

We have worked on a solution to the problem and are confident that this won't happen again once our new system is in place.

As he has said, there is a new system being put in place to prevent a repeat of this situation.

Here is another developer statement on this issue:

We have said again and again that only TaleWorlds employees have access to moderation tools and none of the bans were to censor something. Unfortunately some people are still trying to make it something other than what it is and our posts are buried in all those comments.

There is nothing left to discuss here, as claims about "communist censorship" and bowing to the pressure of some foreign government are nonsense. The players which received disproportionate and/or unjust bans have had their bans reduced such that none of them should still be banned at the time of this post. All bans issued at this time are global, but only TaleWorlds can issue them. A new system for handling reports is being put in place to avoid future incidents of this nature.

This thread will now be locked. Any user that wishes to report another player for misconduct or cheating may contact Callum directly on this forum, or me for incidents that occur on duel servers. Video evidence to accompany your reports are preferred, though for many things screenshots will do.
