Gameplay shouldn't be having too much trouble at 2GBs...

You could try opening up game_variables.txt and, at the top of the file, add a # to the beginning of the 10 or so lines that have the word "buffer" in them.
 
I made sure to exit/close all the memory hogs like Chrome, Steam, and Skype before running the game.

i get an "video memory error" even though it seems to be the sound thats isn't loading correctly. also the log shows me the wrong spec's (i am running  expanded version 1.53

Are you running steam?  If so find the steam application, right click and select "properties".  See if it is running in compatibility mode for Vista.  If so, disable that and your RAM should return.  That 1GB of detected RAM is definitely the problem.
 
I have a bug that makes my game crash every time I enter a tournament.
The arena by it self is fine but each time when a tournament is held my game crashes. Please help  :cry:
 
eysi, post your rgl_log.txt so the developers can figure it out. Post it right after your game crashes.

I'm having exactly the same problem as you here.  This happens more so in the bigger battles, but also happens in smaller battles as well.  It even happened in a tavern once and a few times on the troop tree menu.  Currently, I can't get passed a siege because I keep having to window out to make the game run until it eventually crashes.

I've tried the memory program and it doesn't help.  I've shut off everything in the background that I can, but my system should have enough memory anyway.  I'm using the extended version and Steam (this eats up a lot of memory, but I cant play the game without it).

My rgl_log says nothing but the game version.

Here are my specs:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400  @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 3582MB RAM

Any help would be appreciated.

You could download the game from taleworlds.com and use your CD key from steam in it to make it function outside of steam.  But your computer (based on the specs given) should be able to handle Floris expanded.  Have you checked to see if your steam application is set to run in compatibility mode at all?  If it is it could be reducing your available RAM well below what the computer actually has.

I saw that in the FAQ, but wanted to exhaust all other options before I download everything again.

Steam is not running in compatibility mode.

That was another thing I didn't want to do until I tried everything else BUT....I just tried it and it worked!

This is a great mod btw.
