Stuttering During Fast Travel

Whenever I fast travel on the world map (hold down control and space) The game constantly stutters, as in it pauses for small amounts of time quite frequently. This is extremely irritating. The game runs fine otherwise.
 
Pretty much what jacobhind mentioned.

The game needs to calculate lots of things: What does each lord do, where to attack, what to defend, autocalc battle outcomes, where and if new bandits spawn, etc.

Now, when you fast travel, the same amount of calculation needs to be done, but in a shorter time period. If your cpu is not done with the calculation, the game will pause/stutter to allow some scripts to finish calculating, before resuming the game. Otherwise your game would be out of sync in no time.
 
It won't do much. Warband calculates using frame-controlled time intervals, and doesn't continue with a frame until all the calculations involved are complete - hence the stuttering each ingame morning when the game is working stuff out. (A modder could potentially stagger these triggers and scripts to slightly different hours and all but eliminate campaign map lag, but not many people are that concerned with it to give it a go)

So unless you can overclock your PC enough to squash a 1-2 second script onto a single frame, stutter is inevitable and necessary in a real time simulation like this.
