In Progress Stuck on Select Culture Screen

Once I'm on the culture screen the mouse still moves, but I am unable to select a culture and unable to hit the back or next button, the game freezes. It does the same thing when I try to start the game in safe mode, I get stuck on the brightness calibration screen the mouse cursor still moves, the music keeps playing, and I can alt-tab just fine; but everything is non-responsive. I can't move the sliders or hit either the accept or cancel buttons. There is no way to proceed to the game. I was able to play the game yesterday on my Shadow PC, now having these issues which makes the game unplayable for me.

Can't even load save file because the game screen freezes.

The Select Culture issue can be linked to the same as this thread here

Whether you are stuck on brightness screen which you can bypass by editing the config file you will then be stuck with this issue which is the same underlying problem which is ultimately not being able to select the UI buttons.

I am but a fix is in progress. It is an issue with playing on a virtual machine. The Select Culture issue can be linked to the same as this thread here
