Who We Are The 40th, under its current leadership, started on Dec. 16th, 2018. It has since the takeover, focused heavily on the internal, meaning community. The regiment has since its launch con- tinued to grow and develop beyond expectation. A strong yet diverse core of members has welcomed older and newer players alike into its community, causing stability and a sense of common. The 40th has since its launch always taken an independent stance from other regiments and communities, accepting that the days of harsh discipline and title-collecting are long gone. Instead, the 40th sees the game as a basis to continue the growth of its community and ensure activity within. It would, however, be false to assume that the regiment does not enforce discipline and order, but just to a degree it deems necessary to run it. The 40th is always looking for new members to join its ranks, and if community and a more relaxed environment are your primary concerns, we highly recommend you head over to our website! | 1. The regiment was extremely active during the Napoleonic Wars, firstly fighting extensively in the Caribbean theatre (1794-179. Thereafter it took part in the joint Anglo-Russian invasion of Holland, fighting in two battles in 1799. It then took part in the Mediterranean expedition, and fought in Egypt against Napoléon. In between, the regiment also fought in Argentina and Uruguay against a Viceroyalty of Spain between 1806-1807. Between 1808 and 1814, the regiment served on the Spanish peninsula under Wellington and took part in 12 battles. In 1814 it was sent to New Orleans to fight in the War of 1812, but was recalled the next year to serve in Europe. In May 1815 the regiment was rushed to join with Wellington's army just before the Battle of Waterloo commenced. Initially placed in reserve, they were later in the day moved to the centre of his line to a position near La Haye Sainte. They held firm all day and helped drive off Napoleon's final massed infantry attack, ultimately losing 170 killed or wounded, including their commanding officer Major Arthur Rowley Heyland. The regiment then formed part of the Army of Occupation until returning to England in April 1817. |
The entry rank is that of Recruit [Rct]. Members must attend 10 events + pass the respective exam for every promotion. Ranks after the rank of Kingsman [Kgm] are handed out subjectively by the Commander. The Chosen Man rank is awarded to the member that wins the monthly melee tournament. The Adjutant Staff serves a purely administrative role, and does not have the right to exercise authority. Lance Corporals, although not Non-Commissioned Officers, serve as members of the Staff, offering help and advice. Privates, regardless of class, always use the tag [Pte] in-game. Class distinction is only shown on TS3/our forums. | W.I.P. |
