Ugh I can't stand that even if you still have lots of men if you die in battle you always lose. Makes the games so much less fun and makes me feel like hiding instead of fighting. Much better if the fight continued and you could still win even though you got knocked out.
This is Renaissance and Renaissance commanders stayed behind their lines, unlike medieval commanders who would lead the charge. Look at Flodden Fields e.g., where the Scots lost because their commanders fought medieval style and were taken out by the first english volleys while the english commanders stayed back and commanded their troops in Renaissance style.

That's why it's not fun, extreme historical accuracy can really ruin a game, it's not Total War.

Old thread got locked so I'll post my question here.

Kind of spoke too early back there. Apparently the only ways to improve relations are to send them a letter that increase relations by 10 but can only be used once in a week.
The other increases relations by 5 with that lord however completely imbalances the kingdom's power. Sorry for asking without playing but is there any way to at least maintain the relations without having to do it manually? At this rate I can only maintain 2 lord's relations by this method, since I can only give 10 relation points every week, so I'd have to lick lord A's ass week 1 and week 2 I could lick lord B's ass before going back to licking lord A's ass the next week. The rest I'd have to mess up the balance or just manaully go and ass lick them on the field...

WHICH is something I find to be god awfully tedious to do. Asking my stewards where they are, then going there to find another lord and asking them where the lord I'm searching for go, then going there to find out he was there but 2 days ago and that he's at my home center which is 2 days afar from where I am.

That way, I'd only have to spend some $$$ on restore the power balance but I feel like that's not how it's designed to be. Which leads me to another question - is the power balance that dangerous? For example, if I change it to 4% clergy, 3% commoners and 93% nobility will the kingdom come crashing down like a meteor?
I don't have that much time to play so I'm not really deep into the game yet. From what I feel, if I change the power too much like what I exampled before then I feel as if the kingdom would come crashing down, is that the case?
Also, how long does it take for say 100% nobility to restore to the natural power balance?

IMO if this whole "ass lick nobles by giving them power for a short time"  a variable way to maintain balance with lords, meaning that even if I do imbalance the power and the kingdom doesn't go to ****s and I could just keep repeating this and every month the kingdom would have a period where the nobility are given **** load of power it could work. But I feel as if this is bad design, I mean... for example if you have 10 lords and you do this with 5 lords and the power is already 0/0/100% power balance then you could do it with the other 5 without any penalty whatsoever, so is this really what was intended?

tl;dr
So basically, how do I maintain vassal relations? I plan on having a kingdom with at least 10 lords and this steward can't do much.

You could burn your Influence on asking them to tell you about their family for +1, but I'm not sure how viable this is in the long run.

Yup, agreed... waiting on Quin's solution to this... can't be that he wants us to play constant -100 lords does he?

Does colony population currently have a use? I'm getting the same production whether I have 0 colonists or 100. And does colonizing with freeman vs. slaves have any differences?

Not that I noticed, to either. The only practical difference in the latter case is that freemen are cheaper but need to be escorted.

Announcement: Hotfix 1.21

This small patch fixes a dialogue with the kingdom Steward. You can now spend 10,000 Florins (from kingdom treasury) to improve relations with a vassal. The relation bonusses of either sending a letter, granting privileges and more are increased.

Download link - Moddb

Unpack the file to: ...\Warband\Modules\Nova Aetas\.

* It's savegame compatible.

Have fun!

Are there any troops that use firearms? I see some being sold in weapon shops, but I've yet to run into any troops with them.

They come at a later stage in technology, the third stage I think. But it could be bugged as no new units/tiers appeared when it happened in my game, so I'm not sure if I was just unlucky as I've seen no one else complain about it

So i cant to seem to figure out how to build building in my town.
Talked to the mayor, but he didnt seem to have any options for it.
Am i missing something?

One of the staff members the mayor allows you to hire should be a Commissioner of Engineering. Talk to him about buildings.

Didnt see the option to hire either, do i need to wait for the next payday?
Or do i need to talk to the mayor in a specific area of the town?

The option should still be there, even if you don't have the money for it. Are you sure its a "Town", which is the big ones with a market and an arena and a tavern? Not a Castle or a Village?

The mayor should be in the castle portion of the town. It's not the same guy as the one you go to for jobs and setting up businesses in the town.

I just want to say I love this game so far but I've encountered some game breaking bugs.

I cheated my character and funds and companions so I could see all the mod has to offer. I increased my prestige, honor, right to rule and religious strength. I then took over the Azteloc Empire and made some of my companions vassals. I also took over Zendar and made most of their lords vassals as well.

The problem is no matter how much time passes it seems they don't reinforce their garrisons. I even gave them titles so they had additional income and cheated up my tech level. Also, I set up a couple colonies, built my castle and kept one of the Azteloc towns and built all the options from the architect at once. However, 5 weeks later it seems only the statue was built and there's no shops or other things available at the town. (Though maybe the did get built and the game doesn't tell me?).

Also, I couldn't seem to find the new companion Aeric the Navigator(?) after I checked all the towns and rooms therin.

Anyway, great game, but I don't think I can play any further until some of these bugs are ironed out, especially the garrison bug.

I also have a couple of requests for future updates:
1 - The ability to turn off companion interactions so they don't get upset (not just dialog). I like to be able to form my own personal guard.
2 - Companions as bodyguards in towns and ambushes
3 - Auto-upgrade companion equipment from loot.
4 - Options to gather companions at start so I don't have to look for them.
5 - Some way to see all lord holdings on a screen so I can see who are the most powerful and form alliances with / marry into / recruit as vassals.
6 -  Option to increase battle reinforcement waves so big battles don't get broken up into multiples.
7 - Formations AI

Thanks for the hard work!
