History of the Company​

    The 5th Company came into being due to a problem that has plagued infantry soldiers for years, walking. The 95th Rifles, after a stunning show in the Napoleonic Wars, were moving on to new battlefields. After walking for the entire length of the Peninsular War, several of the rifles were tired. Obtaining mounts, they began fighting on horseback in addition to on foot.

    After one particularly stunning defense of their fort from an attacking Native tribe, the commander of the Hearts of Oak took notice of these soldiers and after approaching them with an offer, adopted them into the Hearts of Oak as Light Dragoons.
