Hello. I've watched alot of film in my life, but sadly it's pretty much only been american-made movies, and I am so sick of seeing the same movies wherever I turn when I want to see a good movie. Most movies I like I've watched over 5 times, usually once or twice per year. I am starting to get really tired of it, and I need to watch some foreign movies. I've seen some french, spanish and german, and they have all been very good, like Das Leben der Anderen. I would love it if someone could give me some tips of good foreign movies (anything but american).

The Hungarian film Taxidermia, but only if you have a strong stomach.

TDM's films are both excellent. Downfall is also good, but you've probably heard of it.

If you're into Medieval films there are two Swedish films called Arn – The Knight Templar and Arn – The Kingdom at Road's End which are set in the same period as Kingdom of Heaven.

If you like Soviet cinema, the film adaption of War and Peace by Sergei Bondarchuk is worth a look. It's incredibly long-winded, but there is a battle scene with 120 000 extras from the Red Army.

Norwegian films:
The Pathfinder
Junk Mail
Elling
Svidd Neger (Burn Negro. Exactly how it sounds like)

I ****in hated Das Boot, fell asleep during the first half. If you count UK films as "foreign" then I'd say look for stuff by Shane Meadows: Dead Man's Shoes, This is England, A Room for Romeo Brass

I also liked Das Leben der Anderen . If you like German films, I personally liked Sophie Scholl - die letzten Tage and Die fetten Jahre sind vorbei. If you're in for a freaky movie, check out Das Experiment.

Nope!

Das Boot is a classic, a bit long, but good. And Stalingrad is my favorite war movie.

(Unless you count Dr. Strangelove)

I guess I could give you the names of a few finnish films:

Tuntematon Sotilas - Edwin Laine (The Unknown Soldier):http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0048752/
This is about the finnish Continuation War. It's old but I think it's quite good even if some of it lost if you haven't got much info about Finnish culture and language.

Vares - Aleksi Mäkelä: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0372594/
It's an action movie about a private detective. It's funny as hell.

Mies vailla Menneisyyttä - Aki Kaurismäki (The Man Without a Past): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0311519/

The Man Without a Past was even nominated for an Oscar so I guess that's one you might even find somewhere.

More finnish movies:

Raja 1918

Tali-Ihantala

Star Wreck

Raja and Tali-Ihantala are both war movies, though Raja (Which means border) is a bit more of an "regular" movie, that has a plot, drama, all that jazz.

Paha maa (Frozen Land) is one of the best finnish movies I've seen. Not a "light" movie and can potentially be a bit depressing.

There are plenty of great British movies. Lock, stock and two smoking barrels and Children of men (well I didn't find it that great, but many people do) to name a couple.

Das Leben der Anderen, Die Fetten Jahre sind Vorbei, El Orfanto, the swedish version of Let the Right One In, Pan's Labyrinth, Children of Men (if we're counting brit films), and I'm sure I'll think of a mess of french ones in a few minutes.

Kukushka, an interesting Russian film about three people "drawn together" during WWII who speak different languages.
Potop and Ogniem i Mieczem, Polish films about Poland in the 17th century.
Hukkle, an Hungarian silent film with a lot of scenery porn.
Hrafninn flýgur, if you like vikings. And since you play Mount&Blade, you probably do.

City of God.

The ****ing best Brazilian and foreign film I've ever seen. And if you ask if you should see it, I have only one thing to say.

BUT THOU MUST!

It's the kind of gangster movie that has the big boys like Scorsese's flicks on their arse, begging for mercy.

City of God was pretty epic. I could also recommend Tropa de Elite. Tells the story of some police's elite troops fighting against drug dealers: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0861739/
