Also, does lvl225 perk "Trusted commander" apply to horse archers, or only foot archers?

On the face of it, no for the first question, yes to the second.
(usual caveats that I'm not exactly a professional)

Yup, any mounted unit that isn't a hero, because of the way unit types are defined* in BL

It also appears that you can double-dip with Make a Difference and Lead By Example for horse archers because of the way it defines troop types.

So, in summary:
Infantry -- no horse, no bow/crossbow
Mounted -- has a horse equipped.
Archer -- bow or crossbow equipped.
Ranged -- bow, crossbow, javelin, throwing axe, etc. equipped.

Only infantry is defined exclusively, so the rest overlap each other.
