this would sound nice in towns

I like all of these suggestions for authentic period music. Not keen on Mel Gibson's butchering of history in his films. But love the authentic stuff.

Poom I sent Gab the Lilliburlero clip as a mp3 and he said he was going to use it for 1776. British Grenadiers and Highland Laddie are a must.

I sent Gab this for the Rebels and he liked it because the drums were heavy (like a battlefield) and the crowd sounds might give the impression of troops chattering.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aq3_oheNlik Short but sweet Rebel fife and drum tune. Not sure if I sent this to Gab but it should be used.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6rZTu5jo7w Speaking of Barry Lyndon this piece is very effective. I made a short film for 1755, which I no longer have, where this came in as I was walking through a field of French dead and this was very effective...well Alan thought so hahaha!

Yes, all good stuff, I know I'm plundering Barry Lyndon, but I always liked this one by the Chieftains, it was also in the movie. Bit soppy though, but good nonetheless.

Black Bear is good, but we'd have to find one with a far less Victorian/ modern mass band, brass in the background version of it. Also for the Rebels, Jefferson and liberty is a good one, just can't find the right mix of instruments for that one. Anyone know of any good copies, with just fife and drums?

Speaking of the Chieftains, I always liked their music used in the `Year of the French` film/series. I have a copy of that soundtrack on cassette somewhere

if you guys could find some period Fife and Drum,  and add it to the battle scenes it would add to the immersion.

~Edit~ while snooping around on the internet I found this site which has a plethora of period music. might want to check it out:

Some nice military snippets on this site, http://www.militaryheritage.com/sound.htm
A bit later than 1776 but still nice

Yup that fits, too quote wiki "Rule, Britannia!" is a British patriotic song, originating from the poem "Rule, Britannia" by James Thomson and set to music by Thomas Arne in 1740. It is strongly associated with the Royal Navy, but also used by the British Army.

Pity that song isn't our national anthem

Yes nice tune, the GarryOwen, an Irish song from the late 1800`s, took up by the 5th (Royal Irish) Lancers. It became a favourite of Custer in the next century after he heard the song among his Irish troop

Lol... I think I've gone crazy. Every one hour im checking if you didnt release it. Every day i check it, im waiting for it like mad. I siriously dont know what i gonna do when you'll release it   XD

So a quick question about the 1755 old frontier mod: I played it for a bit and I found my troops' movements to be very static, sometimes they just run in place when I give the order to advance, is that a bug or just a feature of the mod? Also just my opinion, the buildings in battle looks nice but they really hinder troop movement.
