It is important to know as much as possible about the current state of affairs in the game world to make the most of any opportunities that arise or prepare yourself for any impending threats. In this week’s blog, we take a look at one of the ways that we present information to players in Bannerlord: the encyclopaedia.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/72

If there's something I've never enjoyed from mods was having a thousand troop types for each tree, it gets quite tedious choosing one from another more when these different troops don't change that much and you just end up choosing one from the other anyways.
I agree. I've been playing Floris recently and it's really annoying having to check the upgrade tree every time units need to be promoted, because there are just so many!

Agree, I think some people just want something to complain about, even if it it's a good thing.

I wonder if it is possible extend/mod the character Encylodepia to have male, female & other. The sort of entries under other might be:
1. Legendary/named weapons - I’d love to know who currently owns them so I know who to rob. Even a rumour about the lost jewelled pommel of Emperor X would be of interest.
2. Named mounts - yes I’d like to name my camel & make him a companion.
3. Legendary/named armour - the tomb of King Y is believed to contain his famous winged helm etc.

This would be soooo cool! I love the loot aspect of Bannerlord, how lords have their own custom weapons and armor, and a feature in the encyclopedia for this would make it even better.

On an unrelated note, I would really like to see factions fight civil wars due to competing clans. I don’t know if this is already a thing, but if it isn’t I’d really like to see that.

Not sure if nostalgia but i think warband ui is way better, i feel like i read papers in WB.

Edit: A small feedback, in trooptree, in cavalry i thought horse figure was part of the axe which looks odd. It would be more clear to add some space between unit and sign.

AWESOME!!! IM SO EXCITED i JUST WANT TO PLAY! I have been playing since 2007 why not just come out with the demo like yal did with the first one that have up to level 7! ?

Very cool blog and features thanks Callum !

By the way it would be so cool if there were just a few sentences of lore information about troops.

Excellent blog, well done with the new Encyclopedia

Please make the clans/minor factions dev blog next

I really hope there’s a way to adjust the importance of family in factions. Much like in Game if Thrones, eg: Westerlands would be a kingdom/region, while families, like House Lannister, rise to power within the kingdom. It’d be a cool dynamic to see what families rise and fall/split off and create inner-kingdom politics/problems.

Not sure how complex of a system that’d have to be but one can dream!

Isn't that already in Bannerlord with the Clans feature or are you talking about another level?

Also I believe in the KISS principle regarding the troop trees and I really like the tree that is shown. For the commoners there should only be one branch for each of the major troop types.

Also I think the GUI looks a little plain and a watermark would not go astray but I don't feel strongly about it. I also love the little floral corner pieces of the MB GUI and the fact that it was made to look like parchment.

Roll on Gamescon

What most interests me, for whatever reason, is the "Heroes" tab. I have to assume its a subcategory under "Characters" so what types of characters are these? Would be really neat if they were adventurers like the player. And based off their names (i.e "Islena of the steps" and "Islena the she-wolf"), they seem generated rather than preset.

Please tell me the permadeath feature will be confirmed and shown off at Gamescom  it will make the waiting much easier.

Troop roster is finally here but I wish to see Empire because they have a balanced roster reflecting Byzies but I will marching to hunting Battanians, their roster is too simple and rudimentary for my likes

This is just Battanian BASIC troops. So T3 cavalry, T5 for archers, infantry and heavy infantry.
Battanians also have Fianna (elite archers) and two different shock troops all from elite troops.

Vlandia won't have elite archers but will have crossbowmen. Empire will have elite archers with composite bow and elite cavalry. Also basic empire archers could be worse because they won't have neither longbow or composite bow while basic cavalry will be higher of tier.

Pretty sure "heroes" is "characters" as it is right inside the "home" menu. Notice how "troops" is also renamed to "units." My best guess at least.

You may be right, but theres no way to know. Weird that theyd have them renamed for the file path there. And that still doesnt explain why two people have the same generic names like that with different titles.

edit- it may just be that they dont show everything in that file path, as I assume they wouldve had to click something after units to get to the battanian roster. Idk, WIP i suppose

Great Blog! Can't wait for Gamescom, word is they're going to show some more single player.

I noticied the Wheat flake is grey at the top of the icon. My assumption is that the wheat icon gets more grey as the unit of food is consummed.

We have 2 Aysa, 2 Islena, 2 Kalata and 3 Kela so It seems more generated heroes than preset to me. But still If the game has 3-4 hundred heroes, this might be also the reason of these repetitive names.

We have confirmation of Nords in the game. Finally we can shut up the people who keep berating Taleworlds for not adding in "Nord Invasion DLC please!"

If they were preset would they really be so lazy as to give some people exact same names and titles? The point of the titles is probably to help differentiate them more, but it cant be hard to have the game ensure a name isn't in use before generating a new person with the same one. Unless there really are so many that Taleworlds can't think of enough names...

Then again we know there are preset kings and whatnot, but that's not to say they can't die anyway. It would be weird for some people to be generated and killable and others to not. Really I am speculating too much :/

Names are easy to think of and can be handled by giving a poor intern who has nohing to do. Also people having two same names are not that rare, as happened to me in real life on occasians. I imagine this is a job Taleworlds is leaving behind to work on more important features and are using a small pool as placeholders.
