Thorvald Larssen officially added to the character depository, I am having a lot of fun reading all your character sheets and it looks like we have the makings of a fun group.

I am going to spend some time today trying to work out the NPC characters in the unit.

Feel free to post if you have an idea for a particular NPC that would fit well and I'll try to get them written up.

Trying to figure out a female sniper, because **** it, not only the USSR gets to be badass like that.

Make her a Hungarian Nyilaskeresztes Párt (Arrow-Cross party) sympathiser. Hungary has one of Europe's greatest traditions for light infantry/sharpshooter tactics. Or a Croatian.

Threw this together on my break.

Name: Lilija Ozols
Gender: Female
Date of Birth: January 1, 1920 (21)
Nationality: Riga, Latvia
Rank: Obergefreiter

Appearance: Lilija is a stern-faced young woman with shoulder length brown hair and sharp brown eyes. She is not particularly tall, reaching a mere 165 cm and has a slender build. Although, any jokes about her diminutive her size quickly stopped after the other members realized her talent for marksmanship.

Personality: Often quiet, friendly when she chooses. She is exceedingly brave in combat and committed to her "duty" to fight the Soviets.

Biography:

Lilija Ozols was born on January 1, 1923 in Riga, Latvia.

An ethnic Baltic German, Lilja left Latvia and resettled in German territory annexed from Poland, under the "Heim ins Reich" program. Recruited by the Abwehr in 1939, trained and sent to Latvia in 1940 to serve with Partisan forces fighting Soviet occupation.

A crack shot and skilled sniper with experience in guerrilla warfare, Lilija is a well-respected member of the platoon.

Lilija speaks German, Russian and Latvian fluently.

Someone a bit exotic:

Stabsfeldwebel Kazimov

Name: Ibrahim Kazimov
Gender: Male
Date of Birth: 11 June , 1915 (26)
Nationality: Azerbaijani
Rank: Stabsfeldwebel

Appearance: Kazimov is an unassuming man and few would believe that bespectacled man was an elite soldier. With short cut black hair and well-groom mustache, even in the field he cultivates an air of academia and he is often jokingly called "Professor" by the men under his command.

Personality: Soft-spoken and careful with his words, Ibrahim is an unlikely but capable Non-commissioned Officer. He is collected in battle and loathe to waste either men or resources through foolish actions or needless risks.

Biography: Ibrahim Kazimov was born in Baku, Azerbaijan on 11 June, 1915 to a religious family of Orthodox Christians. The son of a local legal clerk, appeared set for a life of respectability and wealth before disaster struck. An increasingly active political dissident, the elderly Kazimov had finally come to the attention of the much feared Cheka and along with a number of his relatives quickly became a "guest" of the State.

With his father imprisoned and much of his family facing a similar fate, Kazimov escaped to the West with his mother and brother, eventually settling in Munich in 1923. Attending the Wilhelmsgymnasium, Ibrahim graduated with average marks, although he was noted for his literary talents in both German and Russian. Finding a new purpose in the rising nationalism that swept through Germany and the increasingly anti-Bolshevist rhetoric, Kazimov joined the Wehrmacht a year later.

A quick learner, Kazimov excelled in the army and by 1938 he held the rank of Obergefreiter. Proving himself to be an efficient leader he was transferred to the Brandenburger Regiment in the summer of 1939 due to the recommendations of his commanding officer. Placed under the command of one Leutnant von der Trenck, he has fought his way across Europe and earned the Iron Cross 1st class for his actions during the Invasion of France.

Over the years Kazimov has quietly nursed a fiery hatred towards the Soviet Union and eager for revenge he views Operation Barbarossa as a Godsend.

Kazmiov speaks German, Russian and Azerbaijani fluently.

Presenting the "Giant of the 1st Platoon":

Feldwebel Kowalski

Name: Wojciech Kowalski
Gender: Male
Date of Birth: 15 December, 1909 (32)
Nationality: Polish
Rank: Feldwebel

Appearance: A bear of a man, Wojciech has earned the moniker of "von der Trenck's Giant" among the Brandenburgers. With a clean shaved head and a large mustache, not to mention his immense size, Kowalski easily stands out from his comrades.

Personality: A veteran soldier, Kowalski has been fighting in the war since the Invasion of Poland in 1939 and few men are as calm in the face of danger as he is.

Loud and often drunk, Wojciech is a remarkably friendly man. He has quickly adopted the regiment as his new family and any trust placed with him is not misplaced.

Biography: A career soldier, Wojciech served with the Wołkowysk Cavalry Brigade of the Polish Army. He participated in the Battle of Grodno, fighting desperately with his comrades for three days to try and repel the Soviet invaders. Lightly wounded by Soviet artillery, he spent three days in a field hospital before being reassigned to the 60th Infantry Division.

Along with the last few remaining operational units of the Polish Army, he fought in the Battle of Kock and was captured by German troops on October 5th, 1939 during a failed counterattack, only a day before the rest of the Polish forces surrendered.

Holding a particular grudge against the Soviet Union, once sent to a POW camp in East Prussia, Kowalski was easily convinced by his jailers to join the Brandenburger Regiment.

Wojciech speaks Polish and Russian fluently, along with a heavily accent German.

The hard-ass/fanatic of the unit (because we can't all be friends):

Feldwebel Mayr
Name: Stefan Rudolf Mayr
Gender: Male
Date of Birth: 20 June, 1917 (24)
Nationality: German
Rank: Feldwebel

Appearance: Tall, athletic build, grey eyes, short brown hair.

Personality: An SS man to the very bone, Mayr has made a bloody career out of defending the Reich and few in the unit rival the Feldwebel in his bloodthirsty approach to combat.

He is a stern, volatile leader and is willing to dress-down a man for the slightest offense. Yet, paradoxically, he does appear to act out of well-meaning and his loyalty to the regiment is unquestionable.

Biography: Stefan Rudolf Mayr was born in Schwedt, Germany on 20 June, 1917 to middle class parents. Growing up near the Oder and the border with Poland it was perhaps inevitable that Mayr would encounter other languages. Ironically for a fanatical National Socialist, thanks in part to his birthplace and his father's textile business by the time he was fifteen Mayr spoke a remarkably good Polish and a fair amount of Russian.

Sensing a growing source of opportunity, Mayr joined the Waffen-SS as soon as turned eighteen and flourished in the paramilitary organization. As a part of the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler, attached to the 17.Infanterie-Division he participated in the Invasion of Poland. Wounded in fighting against Polish Calvary brigades, after his recovery, he was transferred to the Brandenburger Regiment at the request of an administrative officer.

Following his transfer to the regiment, Mayr has earned a reputation as a relentless leader and merciless soldier. Few Non-commissioned Officers are as unforgiving as Mayr and he is known to personally boast about the number of enemy combatants and civilians he has executed with his personal sidearm.

Despite this, Mayr has proven himself to be a reliable NCO and his superiors have been able to offer few complaints about his conduct.

Pretty much done with the Officers (writing one more and Big Mac should be creating another). (3 in total)

Unteroffiziere are done as well (Jhess with Esko and 4 NPCs, a couple of which I am still working on). (5 in total)

Mannschaften are what I will tackle last(probably tomorrow), giving some names and basic info(7 out of 27 in total, 3 players, 4 NPCs)

That being said I can always switch things around or account for more players.

My character is gonna be a Croatian Ustasha; part of his backstory will be that he and other Ustashas fought a small guerilla against Yugoslav units during the German invasion of Yugoslavia just before Barbarossa. He should be useful for sabotage and assasination missions.

Stabsfeldwebel Hardijzer played by Venerable F. Sheep added to the roster.

Name: Willem Albertus Hardijzer
Gender: Male
Date of Birth: 7th November, 1907 (34)
Nationality: Dutch
Rank: Stabsfeldwebel

Appearance: 1.80m, athletic. Short dark hair & dark eyes. Shaven, except for a well-kept moustache. Wrinkles on his forehead and the corners of his eyes. Frowns a lot. Prefers to wear a beret.

Personality: Has a passion for his job as explosives/demolition expert. A snarky and sarcastic joker, most of the time. Stays relatively cool under high pressure (mostly so around explosives).

Biography: Willem was born in the Netherlands - in a mixed German and Dutch family - but spent most of his life in eastern Germany. He speaks German and Dutch fluently, knows English and has taken courses in Russian.

Willem's father died fighting on the German side in the Great War. His mother passed away shortly after. Willem lived with family until he volunteered to join the Reichswehr in 1926. Here he picked up his skills as a demolition and explosives expert, having previously worked in construction. He became a handy shot at close quarters with the MP40, but not a great rifle marksman. He advanced from being an enlisted Soldat through to Stabsfeldwebel in early 1938, after 12 years of voluntary service.

Willem participated in the invasion of Poland, but did not get into any serious action. His work was mostly behind friendly front lines (as quicky as they moved in Poland), clearing up. He heard about the Branderburgers here, and he requested a transfer to the unit, believing his demolition and explosives skills would be put to better use in sabotage (and also desiring a more active role in the war). His transfer was put through and accepted, and he joined the unit on the 14th of November 1939.

I've just read through the others' character sheets and I'm a little ashamed of mine now. Maybe I'll expand it some more tomorrow.

Voted for combination: would prefer IRC and/or forums.

I am pleased with the CS I have recieved. An interesting, diverse group.

That being said if you want to change or edit stuff just pm me what you want me to alter.

Here's my character, I don't know a whole lot about the German army but here goes:

Name: Gunther Vogel
Gender: Male
Date of Birth: 10 June, 1909 (32)
Nationality: German (Born USA)
Rank: Gefreiter

Appearance: Tall, with short black hair. Not terribly athletic, but had some skill as a swimmer at school.

Personality: Sardonic and sarcastic, very rarely saying anything meant to be serious. However, he has a very quick mind, and is able to keep cool in trying situations.

Biography: Fearing the conflict in Europe, his parents, avowed pacifits, fled Europe for the US. Growing up in America in the roaring 20's, Gunther made many connections in New York, especially in the seedier areas of society. Once the depression hit, however, those opportunities dried up. After his parents died in 1932, and seeing no real reason to stay in the States, he used what little money he had left for a ticket back to Europe. Once there, he found it worse than America, with little opportunity. With no money to get him anywhere, he joined the SS. He didn't really care for the ideology, but a steady paycheck is a steady paycheck. He discovered over time that it provided challenges more suited to his... talents that he learned in America from the mob and other organized crime syndicates.

Languages Spoken: German, English, smattering of Italian

EDIT: Changed his age because I don't think an 8 year old would get along to well with the mafia.
