Companions... gone forever?

I've been playing 1.003, I'm on day 110 or so and more or less 3 companions have left me.

Now, the question is, are they gonna come back some day? is there a way to recruit them again? Not like I miss them or anything...

They'll be back in the taverns after a while. Just check a traveller npc every so often and try to ask about companions, if your guy says nevermind they aren't back yet, if you have choices they are (and he can tell you where they are for 30 denars).

Oh, alright. But, do they actually come back and continue their "storyline"?

They should have some new things to say once you meet them again, depending on how they wound up leaving you. If they left on bad terms they might not want to see you, but I think you can still convince them to come back.

I don't believe you. My companions never return, and I can never find them again.

Bunduk left because of Lezalit...and now he's back.

I heard its based on your renown somehow. once you get x amount of renown the companion will reappear.

I believe the time it takes companions to return is based on renown and their morale when they left.  Just talk to a traveler every once and a while and you'll get em back eventually.
