AI combat issues

They just... Stood there. Staring eachother in the eye. 10 yards between them. Noone moved Then one side charged! Then retreated to the same spot. Then charged their archers into the enemy line! Then stood there. This has been and is still going for a good hour. Any help?

Try charging them alone, they'll charge your troops after that. Kill one if necessary to give them some kind of "motivation"

Yeah just charge them then run back to your troops. "Imma charging you! No im not , run away lads!"

I tried that, and it started to work, but they retreated to the same place as soon as a few sword cracked a shield.

they retreated after they had engaged in battle? If so I don't know what to do that never happened to me.

Anyway there is already a thread about this problem, there might be something of intrest in it.
