It is kinda a bummer that the banner creator and editor are a bit lack luster and I have to use a mod if I want to have more variety in colors, charges and pictures for my shield and flags. Also I am not a fan of how even as a mercenary for a faction I have to adopt the host nations base colors...

This is something that may come in mods but, there is the ability to toggle icons above your allies heads in battle. I enjoy having this off as it looks a bit more cinematic but, it would be useful to have a keyboard shortcut to put them on for a moment distinguish between allies and enemies.

I didn't find a similar theme and decided to create it myself. These are all currently available signs for banners in the game.

Do you guys thing the units will follow the color scheme of the banner or clan you chose, like if I have a blue banner but have Vlandian troops will they have blue instead of red on items besides their shields?
