    Which leveling system do you prefer Warband or Bannerlord?

    That's the part of the system I dislike. At later levels you find yourself grinding skills you wouldn't otherwise use in order to gain levels for extra focus points for the skills that you do want to use. It all feels a bit... MMO-ish. It forces you into playing as a jack-of-all trades.

    I agree. Having to level up other skills in order to just gain more points for your favourite picks just doesn't make any sense, in a "game" world.

    The individuality of customizing your character in a match is vitally important in my opinion. It's what made the experience so unique, as you could recognize other players by what they choose to where. This class based system with no customization feels SO shallow in comparison.

    That's reasonable.  Cue the shield breaking sound, for a stand in, and have the bow fall out of hand.  It's a great idea, sounds simple to implement.  It would make the bow useless at pointblank.

    Sounds exciting!

    I would love to see arrows bouncing off of stone and other "impenetrable" objects, as opposed to what we have now.  Arrow physics at this point could be handled client side as they would have no impact on game-play, thus having virtually no drain on server-resources.  Optional as-well, just like rag-doll.

    This would greatly improve the atmosphere of ranged battles between groups of archers.  The CPU drain wouldn't be too intense either, have the arrow bounce off the object depending on the angle, etc.  and then it could disappear after a few seconds.

    A "fear" effect?  That doesn't seem to make much sense.  Who would be more fearful in one-on-one, the heavily armored knight, or the armor-piercing crossbowmen?  ...Bullet through butter...

    -Decrease the walk/run speed by at most 1/3 WHILE aiming and it should make things a little more balanced.  An accuracy decrease takes effect when moving, but an actual penalty on movement would further balance bow and x-bow "situations".  Did people ever shoot, re-load bows while running?

    -The time difference for re-loading different quality ranged weapons seems minimal.  How about increasing the time it takes to load more powerful x-bows and bows, up to a maximum of 2 additional seconds for the siege x-bow, and maybe 1-2 seconds for the war-bow.  Longbow already has a brutal re-load time.  Historically, weren't longbows used to fire a quick succession of arrows?  And their accuracy was abysmal?  Correct me if I'm wrong.

    -A longer animation for "prepping" the throw of a javelin, axe, etc. would solve the insta-throw problem.

    Keep in mind these are just rough suggestions, mutilate them at your desire.

    I support this idea.  But there must be penalties for injuring a friendly as-well.  Either taking off the clumsy soldiers health in an equal amount, or maybe a gold deduction? 

    This feature would force infantry to act more coordinated, and I think they would actually be more effective in a team.  Many times have I seen 5 infantry gang up on 1 lonely de-horsed chap, as a few other enemies move in from behind and score some free hits before the kill-lusters realize what just happened.  Implementing this feature would force infantry to think more strategically, thus more realistically.  Excellent idea.


    :idea:  Upon further consideration, this might not be such a good idea.  Unless it's effects were minimal, it might not be something worth spending time on.

    How about each arrow that hits a friendly player or horse deducts a certain amount of gold from the archer, taking into account factors such as distance, and whatever else.

    Yes.  When you press "T" or "Y" and the chat box comes up, all recent text should be displayed as well. 

    Maybe even an option to scale the fade-time for text, that would be nice.

    Alternately, make them smaller when ghosting, they're obstructing a direct view of the action. 

    Or even move them to a corner of the screen.  Although that could be a waste of time spent coding, as they seem to be bound to the actual character, iirc, and not a UI graphic.

    Go to the start-menu!
    Click "Run"!
    Type dxdiag !
    Wait for it to load, then see if there are any errors.  Run tests as well.
    If nothing is wrong, re-isntall direct x.


    Un-install then Re-install Warband maybe?

    Invisible pants (graphics glitch)

    I'm guessing this has something to do with the "character detail" setting.  Put the slider to the left and it will use low poly models at far distance.  Put it to the right and it will use more high poly models farther away, depending on the setting.  At a distance, on the lowest settings, characters look "boxy" because of the low poly models, and the shaders are simple as well. 

    Of course I'm just assuming, based on my own low settings, it sounds similar.  A screenshot would be able to clear this up.  :smile:

    Test it out too, try putting character detail to the max!

    BUT.  Version .570 is actually working :grin:.  I don't know what changed, but don't change it back!
