Guys in the tweak about joining either side in an ongoing battle, the tweak posted here makes the options just to appear in the menu.

It doesn't do anything else. You can't actually click those options and join either army, your only option is still "don't get involved" because you can't click the other two.

Anyone else seen this?

By the way thanks for assembling all those tweaks!! Until TweakMB is out, all these are of much help!!

IIRC I think that it was already added in version 1.04, so you don't need to use that tweak anymore.

Hmmm, it worked for me when I tested it. You could try pressing alt+enter twice, that helps for me when I can't select continue on the new game options screen.

Might be Tordiato is right and it's unnecessary anyway, dunno.

Nope, without the tweak in 1.04 you still can't get involved in random battles.

Still doesn't work with Alt + Enter..

I was under the impression (not sure though) that when you alter something in the menus.txt file, it doesn't change the game mechanics, it only changes the messages that appear on the screen.

Which means (again, not sure) that altering only the menus.txt file just makes the option to join battles visible, but it's not clickable, it doesn't actually do anything.

(Maybe i got the tweak wrong?)

Make a backup of menus.txt then change the 3s to 2s, then delete the red sections. I think the red bits are checks on whether you have negative/positive relations or not. The 3s are the number of components in that section ( I don't know the correct terms here).  You could probably also change the -10s to -100s for the same effect, not sure though.

Just to give you a heads-up, I'm more or less done adding VC support to TweakMB, and with any luck will release an updated version this week sometime.  By "more or less", I mean it's going to be very limited - there are entire sections of tweaks that will be disabled.  For example, none of the tweaks for morale, quests, reinforcements, etc, are going to be available initially due to some of the changes VC makes to the modules.  I think I can get pretty much all of the necessary code reverse-engineered if I really wanted to, but it's just really tedious and time-consuming to do, even with a decompiler.

That said, hopefully it will be better than nothing!

This is a little better better. Now i can join only the first choice, where it says "move in to help the_{s2}. I still can't click the second choice ("rush to the aid of the _{s1}). But it's better.

Could you perhaps paste the whole entry from your menus.txt so i can paste it directly to my own?

Thanks for the help!

Any more news on the Viking Conquest support?

The Viking Conquest update as-is has been pretty much done for a while.  I've been hesitant to release it due to the fact that I believe the update will be a bit of a disappointment, specifically because of how many tweaks are not currently supported, and I hate to release a half-hearted update.

The difficulty with VC is not so much finding the tweaks, it's more that so much has been changed since native that a lot of the standard tweaks just don't make sense.  For example, the classic morale tweak is to change the "morale per leadership" value.  In VC, however, morale is not impacted by leadership, and so the existing tweak doesn't apply.  New VC-specific tweaks can be created that work with the VC morale calculations, but that takes just enough additional time that I haven't been able to get to it.  There are lots of other similar examples throughout the code.

In any case, perhaps I should just release it and let people gripe about it if they want to .

Kefka, if you're version has any tweaks that aren't currently available then I say just release it with a disclaimer and ignore the gripers.

I think hiring the Vikings upset the balance of the game. Is there a tweak to disable this? I understand that I can refuse it, but in the difficult moments I can just forget about it.

If you play as a viking, then you can surely hire them. But when you start building your own kingdom, would you want to improve your reputation? If so, then you would not be able to hire them at some point.

That is, if I have a high reputation, the Vikings will not join my party? Or if I have a low reputautsiya I can not create a kingdom?

If you have low reputation you will keep losing relations with many lords and Christian kingdoms. If you reputation is >-50 vikings can't join you for free, you can always hire them for money of course. if you think the total is too low, we can definitely increase it.

In my opinion you need to make the possibility of hiring the Vikings only if the reputation below -50-70 and only for the money and the glory of a certain value. In general, you must first earn a reputation as a bad boy, the Vikings are very much strong fighters that would join the squad to just anyone.

Well, for lvl 29 the cost to join per unit is ~400, so for a 50-strong band one has to pay 20,000. If you play with 1.04 slave prices etc, it won't be easy to hire them so often.

Change number/strength advantage sieging AI lords need to assault 1.04

In simple_triggers.txt change the red 250 here:

1224979098644774929 250 4 0 32 2 1224979098644774930 -100 2123 3

Changing it to 100 should mean they'll attack when they attack when they have roughly equal strength, or it can be increased for them to need more.

Player towns/castles generate garrison automatically like AI lords (2.02beta untested)

In simple_triggers.txt (make a backup) find this section:

Change 180 to 179 and remove the red 2147484189 3 1224979098644774912 7 360287970189639680 section. The red section seems to be the player exception bit.

I think what will happen is it will automatically sell prisoners from the center and add money to it, then spend that center's money on new troops to add, and maybe upgrade some (this could be a different trigger though). Or it might do 1 of these things, or none, it's an adventure! I'd backup your saves either way and maybe store prisoners you want to keep in a refuge or troop camp.

Towns/castles with no lord fill with troops (2.02beta untested)

If you want centers with no assigned Lord to fill their garrison then delete the blue 561 3 1224979098644774912 7 1. Reduce the 180 (or 179 if you have both tweaks) to 179 (178 with both).

This is untested but theoretically should work. If anyone tests it can you please let me know the outcome.
