Why can't I execute the centrions?

Why can't I execute the centurions? After the dialogues, they are still there.

It's strange, it was working some versions ago and I don't remember to have made any change to executions.

And today, I captured a centurion who was killed in the previous battle. I can execute him, and make him to join. Other centurions don't have a "I can use you" dialogue.

A dead vassal of mine still gets income, and still shows in the lord finance report.

Only things I have done is re-equip them in troops file, better skills (horse archery for javelins on horseback) and give them unique faces / names.  The troop name is same though and order of troops the same.  Maybe it's been there awile and not noticed.  I did nothing to them from 4.44c and 4.57 (well I gave them civilian boots for inside castles).  Mystery to me.
