this is a set of four questions, namely:

1 - what setting would you like for the next roleplay?

2 - what style of roleplay should it be?

3 - can we control one or multi characters?
and
4 - how close to history/lore should we stay?

we are now on the last question and the top 2 choices in each poll are as below:

Late Roman Britain, with the germanii already in force on the eastern shores  5 (29.4%)
Early 20th Century Calradia  4 (23.5%)

Middle Earth, mid-3rd Age, when the Dunedain lose their kingdoms to evil  1 (5.9%)
Late Roman Britain, with the germanii already in force on the eastern shores  5 (29.4%)
late 16th century historical (European setting)  3 (17.6%)
Early 20th Century Calradia  4 (23.5%)
none of the above, your roleplays are always a failure  2 (11.8%)
other, and please post what  2 (11.8%)

Small units of low level finished in front 37.5%, with individual characters of low level second placed 25%.

macro-management of states and armies                            3 (18.8%)
individual characters of low level ('grunts')                                4 (25%)
individual characters of high level - but no control of state/army  0 (0%)
small units of low level, eg squads, patrols                                6 (37.5%)
characters to start low level but with rapid rise once RP starts    2 (12.5%)
characters to start high level but lose privileges once RP starts    1 (6.3%)

can we control one or multi characters?
ONE character with 2 or 3 NPC drones - 44%
ONE character and no others at any time - 33%

so far then our roleplay will start with early-20th C. Calradia, small groups or individuals of low level, being tranported across time into late-Roman Britain for the majority of the RP, where each RP-er will control only one primary character, and possibly 2 or 3 sidekick NPCs.

1. Not very interested in a Middle Earth RP, preferably something low-fantasy/relatively realistic, time period isn't that important but it would be ideal if it was a setting many people know or there is a wealth of easily acquired information already in existence(so the GM doesn't have to literally create the world from scratch).

2. Individual, doesn't necessarily have to be low-level but nothing over the top please.

3. One character, to be honest I think it is hard enough for us to get a good RP going when everyone has one character to keep track of(quality not quantity)

4. Accuracy in regards to lore/history depends entirely on the scope of the RP and goal. So long as it is done well I think there are good reasons for both accurately following history and deviating from it.

1: I think the setting should depend entirely on what the writers want to write.

2: Command of armies should only be observed later in the story, if at all.

3: There should be a single main character for each player. Additional characters should be more rare.

4: Depends on whether the lore is fairly solid or not. Lore should only be as strict as agreed upon beforehand.

Sorry - the remaining 3 questions will also become polls over the next short while, with multiple answers.  Should have made that clear....

but nice to see some input already!

okay, early 20th C. Calradia finished close second to late Roman era Britain.
Middle Earth, mid-3rd Age, when the Dunedain lose their kingdoms to evil  1 (5.9%)

just gave this a kick, to see if more than 9 people can be persuaded to post....

remember, if you don't vote, you shouldn't complain when there are never any decent roleplays for you to join / brothels to frequent / sports events in your city....

what is going to happen is that the votes will end up dictating a roleplay that nobody wants - that's how democracy works.
In the first poll, more than 70% did NOT want the roman option.
In the second poll so far, 60% do NOT want the small-units option.
and so it goes on....

Voted for small units of low level, eg squads, patrols. Seems interesting to try to RP that in the future. Not that I have RP'ed here before, normally did that on the Benelux forums, but I would like to RP here for a change .

Update...  Small units of low level finished in front, with individual characters of low level second placed.
macro-management of states and armies                            3 (18.8%)

Err, maybe not.

But certainly your input will help to create the RP setting

Early 20th century...with Cthulhu

Just kidding. But early 20th would be very nice. The technology and warfare of the time is very interesting.

Actually yeah, Cthulhu RP would be awesome.

Though we would need a great GM who would devise the entire mystery thingy before hand.

Not trying to shamelessly promote myself; But I do have the Call of Cthulhu RP guide/rule book.

Update:

A clear consensus to have only one main character, however with a 3/4 divide as to whether that main character is allowed to have 2 or 3 NPC 'drones/soldiers' or must be absolutely solo.

One or more characters?
Only one character under any circumstances  3 (33.3%)
One character, but posts may use 'one-off' NPCs  1 (11.1%)
One main character, plus one NPC or 'soldier'  0 (0%)
One main character, plus 2 or 3 NPCs or 'soldiers'  4 (44.4%)
Two or three main characters, under any circumstances  0 (0%)
Two or three main characters, but posts may use 'one-off' NPCs  0 (0%)
Two or three main characters, plus 2 or 3 NPCs or 'soldiers'  1 (11.1%)
Other, please post  0 (0%)
