Vyrn is a total-conversion fantasy modification project for the game, Mount&Blade Warband. Behind the working team are talented concept artists, animators, modeller, lore-writers and coders gathered under the banner of "Dreamy Folk", a virtual international community-driven entertainment and design studio; the same people who brought many different projects and assets to the TaleWorlds community over the years. (Likes of Ottoman 1453, ZOMBIEEE, Hornburg 2, Rise of Khergits, Age of Mythology.)

What is remaining of this team still burns with the passion of modding this game and here we stand for one final project before we fully depart from the warband scene and jump into next larger adventures.

What we want to do is simple. We want to turn Warband into a RPG, with some strategy mechanics still remaining if a little bit adjusted. Our vision can be explained with "Less Strategy, more RP". And, we had a huge and detailed lore in the works for years already, to be used for future game and 3D animation projects. Then again, we have been tracking down the wishlists, dreams, ideas, feedbacks and never-happened mod ideas for over the years; many crazy ideas were they.

We gathered them, merge them to the lore we were already working on for over a few years and create something completely limit-breaking, revolutionary, unique and beautiful experience just for you guys.

We are sure you will love it as much as we love making it.

  • DISCOVER THE WORLD OF VYRN - A completely revisioned, readjusted, modified, changed, reformed and reforged world just for you to lose yourself in for hours! With lots of custom animations made by ourselves, CREATURES, animals, cultural norms, traditions, architecture, botany, events, scripted wars, pacts, unique locations, dungeons and what-not! And, everything has a reason to be there.
  • NO MORE CLICHE! - NO, NO, NO! You are not the CHOOSEN ONE! You are a risfor, gentlemen. Vyrn is an ancient land, many egons happened in these lands; now don't you just come and save it. But, if try enough, catch up with all these crazy events evolving around you (But, not FOR YOU!) and you might as well help Vyrn be saved! You can simply not care too and become a Vand.
  • DUAL-WIELDING - That is right. Dual-wielding. You will be able to wield any one-handed weapon of any kind on both of your hands and fight in a style that was never seen before in Warband.
  • VYTHAR / ESERIL / SES - Alright, what do I mean? Vythar is the level above mortal existence; Vyrn. Where the Vytharians and...gods live. Eseril? The level below; where creatures and beings are forged and fleshed out to settle the balance. Ses? Lets not even get in the 3th existence level standing on both sides!
  • HUNTING - Hunting is legit. You will be able to hunt and hunt many creation of Eseril; and sell their pelts, teeths, skins for sesterti.
  • RACES - Dagors! Darzul! Buruks! Vyrnians! Stonebloods! It didn't make sense at all. This is the vyrnian language, of saying "Giants! Dragon! Dwarves! Vyrnians! Stonebloods!" and some more.
  • CREATURES - Creatures! Forget everything...we already implemented a DRAGON!
  • STORYLINES - World is alive, it doesn't stop with you. You must try enough to be a part of it, involve in stories. And, trust me; so much is going on already.
  • AI - We are kinda big about this, because it is already implemented and it is super awesome. I am talking about an AI who can block, feint, chamber, jump, roll forward, crouch, break gates, kick and all that stuff that makes it pretty hard to kill. Not even needed to mention about the new BOSS system, which allows some bots to become bosses with thousands of HP.
  • WAR - This is not the exact word to describe the new battle atmosphere we created while battling, because there is simply no word to describe what we made of it! AI does its magics. Bodies are chopped off, split into half, riders fall off their horses, warriors will run around crazy attacking each other, horsemen will come from back and make a suprise attack, archers will be able to shoot weak spots and more!
  • SOURCE OF LIFE - World is real, life is there. Among what we mentioned so far and things we didn't, we also feature nudity, having sex, giving birth, raping with actual sex animations and naked bodies.

  • BE A CHIEFTAIN - Not haldan, he is a risfor. But, if you make child from a Vyrnian; then he will be accepted as a Vyrnian and why not be followed as a chieftain? Depends on what kind of a name you make yourself in this game as Haldan. Don't let fathers' sins happen.
    When we are done with Native, it won't be Native. You will play a whole new game, gentlemen.

Yup. We are working on dual wielding at the moment. You will be actually able to fight with dual weapons of any one-handed items with proper animations and coding.

However, we are also unsure about how exactly this game mechanic will be designed at end as the limits in warband are real. We aim to make it so you can actually attack and block with both weapons seperately or same time.

We will probably feature a mechanic with directional blocking an attacking though.

Hello,

Here is some of the progress we made for you guys.

  • Sprinting has been implemented. You can sprint for a few seconds after holding left-shift and pressing any of the movement keys.
  • Slow-motion feature added. This feature adds some coolness to the battle atmosphere, that will slow everything down for 2 seconds when you make a kill or just randomly release your attack.
  • Body splitting has been implemented. You can chop bodies off from middle.
  • Decapitation code has been, has been rewrriten better optimization.
  • First phase of AI has been done. Now, NPCs can block, roll forward, jump charge from a distance, kick and disarm you.
  • In-game cutscenes have been implemented, if a little poorly. You will encounter cinematics while playing.
  • First phase of creating your own clan is done. You can give it a name and choose the location you are at to build.
  • Made over 70 new animations for the module, including jump charge, new standing animations, really cool running animations, sprinting, sitting and drinking.
  • Made over 200 armor design for each culture.
  • Created over 10 new creature design ready to be put in-game.
  • Integration of the lore the project properly has begun.
  • New menu presentation in works.
  • Location intros implemented. Each time you enter a location, its name will appear on your screen.
  • Resting system has been implemented. You will need to rest for certain duration to prepare for next battle.
  • Main storyline quest has been adjusted and added.
  • Work on 3 really long quests has begun. Overall promise of playing hour is 2 hours in total for 3 of these.
  • Buruks, race have been added with proper skeleton.
  • Hunting system has been implemented. You can hunt animals with a nice system of ability to sneak up and try not to scare him away.
  • Censes AI has been written. These blood-loving vyrnians have Ses'Qupal (Connection to magic realm) thanks to Nez'Lun (God of Blood.). They will drain your blood out of you as soon as you are in their sight. You will need to jump charge them to prevent them doing so.
  • 12 new scenes have been done.
  • Over 250 lines of dialogue has been written as of yet.
  • Scripted over 4 new events. Includes some duels between legendary profiles in this world. Quite cinematic and meaningful events these are.
  • You can roll forward.
  • Dragon design is in works as in 3D part. Flying and stance animation work, its AI is almost done. Ojaf'Lyth will be able to do many things.
  • La Grandmaster's windy shaders have been added for hairs and floras.
  • New looting system has been implemented. You will be able to take weapons from ground and they will be added to your inventory.
  • New battle mechanic has been implemented. When you kill someone, he might not fully dead and lay in the ground waiting for you to make the final move or order your troops to find any remaining soldier and do the final move!
  • You can now block from behind.
  • During fighting, a third group might appear on horizon and involve in the fight.
  • Dual wielding AI is in works. New animations are done for blocking and attacking.
  • Horsemen will fall off from their horses. With the right spot hit, you can chop the horse's head off too.
  • New spell systems have been added. Freezing, burning, control someone's mind, taunting and invisibility.
  • You can now display the name of the NPCs above their head if you hold down the backspace key.
  • Permanent death has been added.
  • First blood system has been added.
  • You can now call the enemy team's leader for a duel during fighting.
  • Lorth's healing system has been added. Lorths will heal people around him in fights. Sad there are only two of them in this world and they are not for to be hired.
  • New BOSS system has been added. With this feature, some NPCs' HP could by bypassed and be given over thousands of HP!
  • Snow has been adjusted for better immersion. It looks better now.
  • New races have been added. Darzul, Dagon, Buruks.
  • You can now create your home, have a wife and children. (Not fully implemented.)

Besides, some other things I probably forgot. It is getting there. Hope you liked our work. Stay tuned!
