They could possibly have muskets without bayonets, carbines, musketoons, pistols and the like, as well as an axe, knife, hirschfänger or similar small melee weapon
At least, that would make sense to me, though i'm sure Docm has a source on the matter handy

Yeah, that makes sense. I can imagine you starting like that too, running around with a pistol in one hand and an axe in the other .

I'm also really happy that the Ottoman Empire are going to be included after launch, being an arab, I always join the closest to arab factions there are .

Which brings to my mind, few pages ago I asked if his face has been tweaked or updated. No it looks... simple and kinda dumb to be honest.

Also, somewhere around 2011 you were also planning to possibly integrate some sort of call of duty kind of campaign mode in the quick battle/custom battle section. Did that idea ever get anywhere or is there something similar to that to be expected in some of the releases?

That was a dropped idea for NW and some people said that they would work on unlocking, not sure what happened to it.

I always love the Ottomans in this time period, especially looking at how they fought against Europeons where they used a broken copy of European tactics.

I think Ima take over Syria and Iraq in a campaign. I dunno, how big is the campaign map? Does it go past Anatolia or end off there?

I think the facial structure there is pretty decent, except perhaps that the eyes are slanted upwards an ounce too much.
However, one problem is that he appears to be very young, like in his late twenties, and a tad more babyish than he should at 40 years old.
I suggest moving the age slider to the middle setting, if it's not there already.

Interesting, I do not know much of the Ottoman empire in the Napoleonic Wars era, or anything much about that era!
Also, would cannons have a long reload time? I've never played the Napoleonic wars DLC, so I don't much about the cannons., go
Edit: Okay found out about that, quite interesting, though the cannon effects are bit shoddy IMO.
You guys think L'aigle will change much of the NW system?

L 'Aigle is not a NW mod, so it won't be using NW scripts.

Hey Docm, iirc you didn't know if you wanted the sailors to be recruitable. It occurs to me that they could be recruited as a kind of sidequest. When you're in a coastal town you have the option to create a press gang. You and some of your companions or soldiers armed with blunt weapons raiding a tavern and knocking sailors out. Maybe the tavern brawl could lead to a little chasing in the streets. Depending on how many men you catch, you get a number of sailors for your party. It could also be a quest given to the player by an NPC (an admiral or naval commander in every coastal town?) in exchange for payment and renown like a normal quest.

It could be funny, don't you think?

I think he's talking about how some British sailors were kind of stolen, and used, almost like slaves... But, they were the ones did the majority of the labor on a ship for little to no pay.

Not just British people, the war of 1812 kicked off over people being press-ganged from the American coast, with them being taken off and the government saying they were all of British birth so they had a right to them.

Those are awfully harsh terms for something that every country in the history of man has done. It seems unfair to single out the British when they did less conscription than the rest of Europe (or the US, for that matter). They also weren't "stolen" as it was a matter of British law that the Royal Navy could conscript British sailors. Sailors aboard Royal Navy vessels were also very well paid, better paid than any army paid its soldiers.

Now regardless of the fact that the British had started the war, all that matter at the time was that they were at war and if they didn't impress sailors they couldn't maintain the manpower necessary to defend their country.

That said, you don't recruit sailors in the mod, instead when fighting a naval battle your men are replaced with an equivalent number of sailors and marines. Imagine it's supposed to be the escort ships duking it out. The defeated side loses a proportion of its men, depending on how many points they have in the new 'Seafaring' skill. I don't want them to be decisive due to the lack of strategy in them, so an army can never be completely destroyed by a naval battle.

That's not at all what happened. The British took British merchant sailors and deserters off American ships and legally nothing else. If a man could prove in court he wasn't legally impressed he was always freed. The War of 1812 had almost nothing to do with impressment, that was just a falsified claim by the Americans to justify an invasion of Canada in an attempt to saving the dying American economy. The list of illegally impressed men the Americans sent to the British was full of men that had been freed, duplicate names and outright fabrications.

The British certainly took American sailors illegally, but it wasn't nearly on the scale claimed by the Americans and it was rarely intentional.

The age slider doesn't affect lords. Their age setting is determined by their ingame age and Napoleon's is set correctly at 39.

Docm is making different scenes for each capital city I believe so I would assume Stockholm wouldn't be any different.
