The North American Mentorship Program (New to NA? Click here)

Users who are viewing this thread

Perhaps a new player server with K/D ratio limit on it so your playing players a your level instead of jumping straight into the deep end.

New players come, they go on IG/POM or whatever and get 0/100 for the first few weeks, then just give up. A tutuorial server with a K/D ratio limit where if you get 10/0 you get booted from server, and if you hit that limit like 5 times you get banned from the tutorial server as you should be good enough to join the big boys in theory.

Server admins could be better players whom dont just want to roflstomp newbies into the deck but have enthuisasim to teach newer players, thus they could hop on and offer advice constructively.

Or somthing like that may help too.

Good work on trying to encourage growth. Much respect for that.

I think we should focus on getting players that have never played in competitive warband before, not experienced players who want to improve, just saying, not trynna sound like a ****.

I mean sure, if a player wants help then by all means do so, but try and get someone new too.

Growth should be the priority, not an increase in skill imo.

Yeah you're right friendo. I shall search for more under privileged players!

I am helping out a few more experienced players not on my mentee list

Priority should be something like:

New players
Players that want to learn a 2nd class
Players that want to learn a 3nd class
Players that want to learn competitive, advanced mechanics, calling, etc

Not exactly in that order, but you get it!

I agree with this (even though I signed up to learn lel) and also with what Lag said about making the scene more welcoming, not only in attitude but in activities. I've seen and met quite a few people who only play NW, PW, ect because they find NA boring and hard to pick up, which it is honestly. I can only speak for myself here but it seems like most scrims/activities happen at 8-9, and there is literally nothing else besides pubbing going on the whole rest of the day. I can understand that there are quite a few people in the scene (Such as myself) with day jobs, or school. But I think some random activities thrown into the mix, and inviting people on say POM is maybe a more sure fire way of getting new people rather than on the taleworlds forums, which a good deal of the current competitive NA people don't even use actively. Also it would really help if we had access to the GK servers, or at least some sort of support from them. I know that last time reaching out to them didn't get any support, but I think trying is better than not trying. If needed I can try to do this, I still have quite a few friends in that clan that might be more willing to listen to me rather than someone they do not know as well.

Exactly, I'm glad you brought POM up because despite what many people believe, you can still find newer players there that are interested in competitive warband, all you have to do is ask. It only took me 2 maps to find someone who has never played competitive before and is interested in getting involved.

Just show them streams, bring up sponsors/prizes, and link them to this thread and the UNAC sub-board!

Updated the OP with:

Our Official Steam Group!
A section for Mentees (probably will continue adding more things as they come)
A section for Mentors (more to come)
A section for
Graduation

This portion of the program is an interactive and fun system so that you can feel a bit more like you can see your progress toward being a better player.

Each mentee will have their name placed on this thread under a list of graduates. They will receive 1 gold star for each mentor they learn everything they can from. Once you earn 3 stars from each of the 3 classes ( 9 in total ) you will be an official graduate of the program, which means you have a very good understanding of every class.

An example of a mentee progress sheet:

Student: Manry

Infantry:

0XJIos5.png

Cavalry:

Archer:

Each mentee can switch mentors as anytime they wish for any reason, just send a PM to me or on steam or post here.
Each mentee can also have multiple mentors at the same time if they wish.
(under mentee section)

This is an interesting concept, I think this might actually add something to this for some people. Like many have brought up, this game has no real progression besides skill increase, which usually doesn't come fast. Or at all in some cases, but anyways good idea guys
