That is unbelievably disturbing on so many levels.
After mini updute on 980kb all the steppe nomads have become children and they cannot be killed.

Check your mods.
before the update, everything was fine, and after there were unkillable children, I doubt that the mods are to blame here, which I have only 2
As far as I am aware, the only updates were to MP and then they got rolled back. Should have been nothing on the single player side that i have seen.
disabled all the mods, but the problem remained. I want to draw attention to the fact that this only happens with nomads who are needed to complete the quest
Start new save and then report back.
This specific issue was reported elsewhere. They said disabling BannerPaste and something else fixed it.

I started a new game, took a quest and went to kill the steppe robbers, at first they were normal, but as soon as one of them received damage, they immediately became children.

Calradia is really unforgiving place if it forces people to start criminal career at so young age.
