what sort of requirments do you need to get a letter from a king to invite you to join him

last time i had just finshed my merc contract with a dif lord when i got summoned and invited to become a lord in another countrys court

Tons of renown.

At the start of my game I usually (depending on how I start) go and solo Sea Raider parties. I get a lot of renown (and money) from doing that. And eventually, when I have enough renown, a lord will invite me to join his faction (unless I play as a female character).

Used to be around 150 renown, but I think its been increased by a recent patch to around 600 for them to contact you. They will still accept you at lesser renown, but you have to go to them, they won't send a letter to you.
