I posted a thread about thinking of making a mod a few days ago,  thanks for the feedback for those that commented-  here is what I am going to be working on from now onwards:    (any ideas and suggestions welcome,  specifically-  weapon and class ideas)
It was originally going to be a singleplayer project, but my biggest drawback to my idea was the AI-  so i feel a multiplayer based project will go better.
(the name is obviously not yet decided, I'll just call it Disgruntled mod for now)
Current progress

In a fictional world, not dissimilar to that of caldera, albeit just entering an industrial era, a terrible virus breaks out-  killing the weak, and sending the rest insane.  total war: almost all the factions are sent into internal fighting, brother against brother.
years pass and most have perished, in the ruins of once-great cities, bands of warriors fight to take control of what is left of the empires.
Mercy and honour are forgotten codes, survival is all that matters,  and when everyone is at least a little bit insane, all hell will break loose.

Key areas of the mod:

Gameplay
- Infantry focus.  no cavalry, minimal ranged weapons, and minimal shield use.
- Fun over realism.  This mod will have no regard to realism, and will be exaggerated and fantasy-like in many respects.
- City-based mazelike maps.  native maps can be used,  but I will create maps specifically for the gamemode, which will be complex and maze-like, with lots of interactable features such as doors, gates and ladders. they will mostly be enclosed and claustrophobic, lots of ambush points and dead ends.
-Exaggerated class skills.  each class will have a unique point, which will be exaggerated, but will also have a big weakness.  this will be a contrast to native classes, who's difference is only really their equipment.
-Exciting specialised weapons.  there will be a lack of 'generic' weapons in this mod,  to steer away from stale combat.  as much as possible, every weapon will have a unique selling point-  such as the flintlock rapier,  a sub-par sword which is capable of firing bullets. (albeit, with low accuracy, and short range)

Visual/Audio
-Unique art style.  I am an artist, rather than a modder,  and will have to learn modding skills as I go-  however I will be able to stick to my strengths in visual design.  although I may be forced to use native models a lot, due to the large undertaking this mod has-  I will at least retexture them to fit the theme.  expect a new look to warband, that will not quite be cartoony, but will be quite stylised.
-New soundtrack, new sounds.  I know a couple of musicians who will hopefully be able to contribute to this mod. if all goes well this mod should have some new and exciting battle music.

Content
-Several unique factions.  I will try to keep every faction with a strong selling point.  currently my ideas are:
(note the names are not their faction names)
    - Gentleman warriors-  a group of soldiers armed in stylish, if ineffective armour, sporting gunblades and other 'respectable' weaponry.
pros: only faction with ranged weapons.  cons: lack of any 'brute force' weaponry.

    - Raiders - the bandits and bastards. sporting very heavy makeshift gear, nothing elegant about them.
pros: great armour, the brutal weapons, able to survive bogged-down fights easily. cons: slow and clumsy, means they can be chipped away at

    - Psychedelics -  Madmen, artists and fighters in one. they wear brightly coloured and bizarre clothes, and move at an astounding pace.
pros: fastest faction, use weak- but armour piercing weapons  cons: lightly armoured, low health

-Brotherhood - a band of religious fanatics lead by an aspiring self-proclaimed messiah.
pros: largely uses polearms, with large focus on range-control in combat  cons: lack of any up-close-and-personal weapons, which means in a prolonged fight, they fall short.

Unique Weaponry:  no weapon crossovers,  every weapon will be unique to a faction,  and every weapon will have a set purpose, rather than being a generic greatsword.
Heavy-light armour balance:  the armour to speed tradoff will be very exaggerated in this mod.  armour will mean a LOT to your survival and playstyle.

Here is where I need your suggestions!  fun is the biggie here (second to balance, of course),  what do you want to see in this mod? I'm not talking what would be 'cool' like samurai etc,  but more what would be very fun to play around with?

(please note that I am making this mod in my spare time, and will likely not recruit anyone into it- at least not for a long time.  progress will be slow,  but I will not abandon the project without first stating so in this thread)
- this page will be updated with progress,  but for the time being I am learning modding skills-  so dont expect much soon.

You should add this picture as a screenshot of your work in progress....to emphasize this is a 'spare time' mod

^ this is what im talking about, with flintlock swords,    think less 'final fantasy gunblade'  more,  'unweildy and mostly impractical but still awsome inbred sword gun thing'  xD

yes Counterpoint, I may well just do that xD    and thanks all for the support

Great idea, implement flails! And Duel wielding! And zombies too!

Joke aside, this does infact sound like a pretty cool mod, if not ambitious, good luck.

As an idea for your gentleman warriors and gunblade faction there was an actual pata(sword-gauntlet) recovered in india that had two small derringers on either side of the gauntlet part of the weapon with the blade extending from the front of the gauntlet.

I always spell Calradia wrong /:

@Berserker Pride,  the Gentlemen warriors will have two classes (for now)
one of which focuses on ranged skirmishing weapons (at most, medium range),  whilst the second is a sort of guard-unit, to protect at close quarters,  this second class could have access to the kind of weapons you describe.
I'm going to give them a couple of brandistocks to use,  although im gonna have to look into them a bit, since im not 100% sure how they were used   also, ive found an example of a bizzare warhammer with mechanical spikes inside, so it doubles up as a sort of spear thing, i'm definately throwing that in the game somewhere.

(note that I intend to encourage close team play, by highlighing strengths and weaknesses of each class)

@Herre:  Whips, whilst they would fit the theme quite well-  seem a bit impossible to me,    gunblades will be possible since they can make use of the 'x' key, changing weapon modes (firearm to 1handed sword),  wheras a whip is an entirely new weapon type-  I am not a good enough modder to do this.

I'm going to bump this just to say it sounds like it will be really fun. Has anything happened in the last week?
