Just after our character dies, the heir selection panel pops up. It is on this panel where we must decide with whom to continue our adventure; however the choice is currently blind, we have no information about the candidates.
Perhaps if a small tooltip popped up when hovering over the available portraits with the mouse, it would give the player a better chance of making the right choice. Something like this:
