Plans for the future

Updating my plans list for 0.400 (Apr 6, 2013)

My priorities
* Fix any bugs and balance issues in 0.400

For 0.500 and 0.600
* Add new player missions -- siege and city assault
* Develop merchant leagues, who will commission players to fight pirates at sea and compete among each other for trade dominance in both raw material zones (starting with the Russian fur forests) and in port cities
* Add several more provinces, especially if I can get enough Chinese architecture models. Southeast Asia is also a possibility for expansion
* Allow players to interact with provinces outside an empire -- the Norse lands, Lithuania, sub-Saharan Africa, etc
* Introduce region-specific troop types

And beyond...
* Develop interactions with tribes
* Develop interactions with religious societies and orders
* Make campaigns targeting specific cities and regions on a very large map
* Allow players to have individual characters who are part of their families, who develop and move around the map
* Increase the complexity of fief management and faction politics

This mod looks like it is going in an awesome direction! Please continue with your vision of the mod and not whimp out in the middle of it like some other modders!!(I like your ideas alot)

suggestion-: east orthodox HC5 bots spawn with non-armored horses...even the playing field a bit mayb?  :mrgreen:

Ah! I see -- I'll make sure that the Orthodox HC5s get the same armored horses as everyone else. That was an oversight that they don't.

I believe one of the main issues with the mod at the moment, is that although it offers unique gameplay, not only despite most of the enemy being bots, but because of it; It will always get boring after a while simply running around fighting low-intensity battles between rival caravans and stealing cattle. These are the sorts of things which have not gotten much attention in many, if any mods at all.

The reason for this is that such things held to be less interesting than commanding a pitched battle.
Skirmishing, and attempting to make one side lose as in the field battles(which I'm sure many players agree, is the most exciting game-mode), is not quite so interesting as say, being in command of several groups of troops, and defeating a skilled enemy commander using mixed unit tactics.

Thanks for that -- that's good feedback to get.

One thing I can do is make a more involved battle mode as well as a siege assault mode.

The way it can work: a player will be assigned by an NPC faction to lead a military campaign. That campaign will involve four linked missions

1) A march, similar to escorting a caravan
2) A battle, modeled on Hastings, where the player will try to dislodge the enemy from a good defensive position
3) A siege, the current mode
4) An assault, where a battering ram will be directed against a gate, followed by an assault through the streets

This can perhaps add more tactical options and more tension to the outcome of battles.

That should be quite interesting, actually.
The whole business of bringing your men from point A to point B, engaging the enemy in the field, then taking their lands; this is the stuff of conquest.
