Obama or McCain a.k.a. Oven Chip Man?

*mourns American dream*

Somehow it's "unfair" for some people to have successful jobs, businesses or investments, so in the interest of fairness we will be taxed into poverty.
Yeah, that's fair!

I wonder if he's going to be paid enough to purchase a backbone, so that deciding when life begins will become viable.

Guns?! Oh it's so SCARY to fathom having citizens capable of defending themselves! Don't worry, Papa Obama will keep us safe!

And don't even bring up coal, you'll be fined into bankrupcy for the "greenhouse" gas produced whilst speaking. Must not be important that the greenhouse effect is caused almost entirely by our atmospheric water vapor.

*hides money, guns, and contraband coal lumps*

Something must be done with our reckless liberal propaganda machine, despite the fact that it's too late.

The idea of what is fair will vary depending on perspective. Is it fair than someone slaves away for 60 hours a week at two jobs to put food on the table? Is it fair that the wealthy worry more about which luxury car to buy when many people can't even afford a car? Is it fair that the successful support everyone else? It should also be pointed out that the wealthy aren't necessarily successful, as many of them inherited their wealth.

so that deciding when life begins will become viable

Again, another argument that has no real answer.

Perhaps the answer is a lower crime-rate rather than a culture of fear and gun ownership. Maybe you should take a look at other developed countries as they don't have this problem.

And don't even bring up coa

Burning fossil fuels lowers are quality and negatively affects our health.

It's better to question and worry than bury your head in the sand.

I wouldn't have voted for either.  The funny thing is that most people that voted for Obama did it for...a reason they don't know yet since most people don't know his platform.  At the same time, most people voted for McCain out of fear, so go figure?

The concept was that Obama would support gay marriage (which he doesn't), abolition of the death penalty (which he doesn't) and would provide more economic relief than McCain's plans (which still has to be seen).  At the same token, McCain played the card of socialism (which is actually a great way of doing things...look at Europe), less experience on Obama's side and weak foreign policy.

What drove all of this is the current economic crisis, which according to Maslow's Hierarchy, the economy would come way ahead of anything else (and according to polls this is right) not to mention that socialism provides a greater safety net for weak times.

The funny thing is that in America, schools teach that Socialism is equal to Communism.  I know this because (a) I had a mixture of European elementary and American high school education (not to mention that I have taught history at the secondary level for over 3 years...our textbooks are full of this stuff!).

Anyway, no matter the way you look at things, McCain was good for conceding his defeat (before anything was even formalized...not like the former 2 elections where the controversies lasted days).

Overall, let's see if Obama could put his "actions" where his mouth was.

P.S. The only fear I have now is that America is doing what it did 8 years ago.  The Senate, House and president were all Republican.  Now its all Democrat.  The balance is lost...

Equal rewards for equal effort is an ideal for fairness, but success is measured by obstacles overcome. An unbalanced tax system discourages great achievement.
While many have inherited wealth, a relatively greater number worked hard throughout their life to get there.

While we can certainly disagree about when life begins, most of us have the guts to state our position. I can't abide a politician who considers such decisions above their pay grade.

I see only fear OR gun ownership. They are rarely concurrent in the same person. Crime is discouraged when everyone is well-armed. Crime is unfettered when only criminals have reasonable weapons.

While fossil fuels should not be considered the only source of energy, it is one of our natural resources, and a rather important industry in some regions.

And I'm not sure if you are accusing me of burying my head in the sand, but I constantly question everything. It's part of why I have trouble feeling at peace. I voted for McCain because I evaluated him to be the lesser of two evils - just like every political decision.

Regarding socialism, I can't fathom what is "great" about it, Fleshy. But I am likewise concerned when there is no balance.

Intriguing, because nowhere have I been taught that socialism is the same thing is communism, and I have looked at the "way things are done in Europe" and I don't particularly like them for a few reasons, although they have quite a few benefits.

Such as mind control. Socialism turns people into slaves of the government.

I have no qualms about evading taxes under such a government.

Welcome, America, to socialism. You new master, Obama.

You obviously know nothing about American freedoms and way of life, of course, because you live in the UK where you serve the queen.

It's sad America is headed towards socialism.

Brave New World here we come.

Socialism is awesome

Well, someone's gotta take the fault for the upcoming Great American Race War, might as well be Obama. I wonder how many people will have to die until Americans see the light.
