On the latest beta patch and I don't know if was like this before but I thought a mercenary would get influence after completely raiding a village? I don't think I got any for defeating the village militia either.
Even with roguery perks, raiding takes a day or two, so your mercenary pay goes down during it. The loot isn't always great to make it overpowered to receive influence on top of loot. A raided village should still be worth influence to the faction you're a mercenary for, it can weigh heavily in the tribute and peace decisions.
