If you are worried about the item limit, maybe you should consider cutting out one of the smaller, lesser powerful kingdoms. For instance, it doesn't make much sense to keep the order of the Teutonic Knights with the current smaller map. Maybe making the map even smaller could be a solution. Just something to think about.
EDIT
I was just looking at this map, of Europe in 1350. According to this, the major factions (of the western-european area) would be:
1) Castile-Leon
2) Portugal
3) Aragon
4) Naples
5) HRE (which is splintered, but all of those states are technically under its control)
6) France
7) England
Scotland
9) Denmark
10) Bohemia
Genoa and Venice would be largely optional.
Certainly a possibility, but I think leaving out the Teutonic Knights would result in my assassination. I enjoy having them there and I think so will players, albeit a slight stretch. Also, I would certainly not want to leave out The Kingdom of Granada, which is one of the most fun factions to work on and experience in-game (not to mention historically and culturally important).
Aragon is a certainty in my mind now; the more I read about them and their war with the Kingdom of Sicily the more fascinated with them I become. Especially interesting is the fact one of Aragon's finest and most decisive commanders was Italian (Roger of Lauria).

just found this while i tried to figure out what my french player in the hundred years war mod should be named...
http://www.heraldique-europeenne.org/Accueil.htm
Very nice site even if you dont read french - seems to cover all of Europe to a degree with dates so one can check if a certain line fits into a historical setting.....I am sad to admit my french as very poor but then a little text not that hard to figure out.....I picked de Montfort as my player name if you like to know (+1249)
Very nice site. I don't read French unfortunately (use to years ago, but far too out of practice), but it could still be quite useful. I could use it to come up with names for companions.

why do you work alone on this mod
So if you group a team the progress could be done faster??
I work on it mainly alone, but I have received some very helpful assistance. I don't work on it alone by choice really, although I'm not sure I'd want a large team. If I had some more people willing to help, it could in theory be done faster, but I'm not sweating it as of yet.
And no, the mod is not dead, but on something of a hiatus while I switch gears.

Many people (myself included) work better solo, and find working in teams to be difficult. Also, one person working alone can work at a pace they find comfortable, without feeling rushed by team-members.
Unfortunately, however, they are still pestered by idiots with stupid questions who overuse smilies.
I've seen her work and she (she?) is quite talented.
A few pages back I have an example of a mitre, which actually was not the papal headgear of the time, but used by other Bishops and such. The papal hat worn by Boniface VIII, was an interesting one and Quidgo was kind enough to make an accurate 3d model of it; I just haven't textured it yet.
Thanks all for the comments and support. The mod is not dead, just taking a break for a bit.
Adding people shouldn't be a problem - the real appeal of the cities though will be the places you can visit. There will be more than just the tavern and shop that you can walk into.
Yes, Bohemia and Poland will be one, somewhat divided, kingdom in the mod. They are rather important at the time, and the two kingdoms would be one as they had one king during this time period.

if the Teutonic Order will not be a Major Faction could they be at least mercenary troops?
The Teutonic Order will likely be a major faction and I don't see that changing much. I've only given a bit of thought to mercenary troops and haven't decided in full what to do about them yet. My thoughts lead towards Genoese mercenaries, but also others such as Brabançon mercenaries.

I could use any visual references you might have. Information is always nice, since there's not a lot of information readily available online it seems. I've only found one or two pictorial references for Bohemian knights, so anything you have would help. Thanks.
The mod is still progressing, although as I've said I'm somewhat focusing on another project for the time. Thanks for the comments all and cheers.
It crossed my mind last night right before going to bed that you might consider the Danish a horseless or largely horseless nation. In 1300 before the agricultural crisis started (a crisis that slowly was felt even before the black death) around 1300 or 1310 Danmark didn't export cattle of the size, quantity and mass that later would be widely known and provide a good profit - That export was a product of the crisis....the crisis ruined the old market - farmers left farms, landowners had a hard time finding anyone willing to take over farms and provide the income to the larger estates.
A bishop in Roskilde complained that he couldn't even get half of the money and goods from his underlings that his father had taken from them since 30 or 40 percent of the farms stood empty and he complained that some moved to Copenhagen to the like to seek better employment.
The picture was the same all over - farmland was abandoned and grassing and cattle made more profit - before the nobles had the money from the produce of the farms they owned to have a lot of horses and a lot were exported to England, France and the Baltic but as the farmhands left and moved into the city the land was used to feed cattle - mainly by lesser nobles and tradesmen since cattle was still looked upon as a "low" trade not fit for a noble but soon the good sense of the switch to cattle was obvious
...around 1400-1450 we already have the first cattle going down via the large trail in Jutland to the North-German markets. But in 1300 the horses in Danmark are still produced in number in the Danish lands by nobles and even exported and exchanged etc for new blood in the stock - The horses are naturally only for the nobles and their escort and minor leaders like in most countries but they had just as fit horses as the Germans, French or English....
.....later that would change somewhat and an import would start to meet the need before the cavalry would be improved by domestic production that would be of the same class as abroad - royal stables, animal doctors and education around 1700-1750 and onwards
The agricultural crisis and the plague was also the reason for "vornedskab" or the bound peasant that became chained to the land around 1400-1500.....a system in used until 1770....before that a peasant could leave - since he was a free man - but I am guessing you already know that since that pretty much was the way it was in large areas in Europe....even the Muscovite peasant wasn't bound to the land as a slave before around 1550-1600 when that system got really oppressive.....naturally there are degrees but you get the picture I guess...
Hope that mess made same sense.....anyway - feel free to ask if you want more info about Denmark or whatever country - you could add countries, military systems, orders, export/import products of areas etc you wanna know more about on the first page, then those who can provide a bit of info could write it and help you in that way without there being an actual team...people would just go to the front page and see...oh he would like some info on the english bowmen and the system to train them, number and training time as example...was it mainly near the welsh areas or was it all England etc or - Did the fishermen and traders in Brittany and Nantes have connection with the Guinea coast at that time or was it a generation later or is it a myth? could i add outlandish imports there? spices? etc etc.....
Ya, I kind of figured . Obviously I would love for them to remain, but sometimes things don't always work out. As someone mentioned, at the very least they could be mercenaries. Besides, if you still are thinking of putting my family's ancestral fief of Stadler near Munich in as a town, how could I be greedy and ask for yet more when you were already generous enough for that?!
I will look into that. I know Swiss Mercenaries are quite popular in terms of player interest, but I'll have to see if they're historically appropriate. If they are, I may not have a problem implementing them.
A lot of really interesting information there. I also find it interesting that you think of these sorts of things before you go to sleep. Thanks for posting it, though.
It would not be a problem to keep Denmark short on mounted units, similar to other nations which would be more infantry-based.
Not at all. It was actually a good read. Anything that comes to mind about the time period is helpful in one way or another, so thanks.

I am very much so for them remaining. I would just have to be more mathematical in dividing up uniforms and equipment, which I'm already doing. I have their lords researched, a spot of land to call their own, and agree that they do add to the mod.
I still remember the fief of Stadler. I was just thinking about not long ago, actually. I was thinking, You can't forget about that German fief, but who wrote that? Does he still post?
Your request was written before you had an avatar and before I was in the habit of remembering people, so I didn't remember that it was you who requested.
I actually have a written note to myself to go through the thread and make note of all the requests I agreed to.
And you wouldn't be greedy, any request I can agree to in the topic is good public relations.
Nevermind about the swiss mercenaries. It would appear that they would not become a prominent mercenary contingent until after the Hundred Years War, though they had been defending the Swiss Cantons since the late 13th century.
I´m new here on this forum, but i am active user of Total War Center forum. I´ve been looking for a good mod that includes the Kingdom of Portugal in Mount and Blade...
If you are interested i can help you with Portugal faction history, important cities and castles, units (Ginetes; Besteiros do Conto; Cavaleiros-Vilãos, Cavaleiros de Aviz (Knights of Aviz); Aventuros; Peões; Milicianos; Lusitanian Javelimen; etc...) uniforms, flag, lords and other stuff historically accurate...
Recently discovering M&B, wonderful game, and here pleased by your excellent work, I just tried this mod.
... and of course I come to complain ^^
No, it' excellent. I just want to help you improving it. I'm french so I see that Paris should be ON the river, not in the south... only a detail.
So for history, I searched the web for the year 1300 and it seems that France wasn't complete, to be exact: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bretagne#Haut_Moyen_.C3.82ge
Indeed, Britain loses its recent conquests in Anjou, the County of Maine and Normandy. In 909, following the death of Alain le Grand, d'Anjou Foulque I received the county of Nantes, which had finally acquired the country of Retz on the Poitou. It is to fight against the Normans and the Bretons. County Nantes will be closely linked to the Anjou and the dynasty of the Plantagenets until 1203.
Reconstituted, weakened by the Duke of Brittany Alain II and his successors, Brittany is now a duchy (sometimes simply called County), which generally takes the limits of the Treaty of Angers. The Dukes, however, continue to exercise the royal prerogatives of their predecessors [ref. necessary] and maintain alliances with the French royal family by marriage with most of the princesses of the French nobility.
Nevermind about the swiss mercenaries. It would appear that they would not become a prominent mercenary contingent until after the Hundred Years War, though they had been defending the Swiss Cantons since the late 13th century.
Understood. As such, they will not be included. Thanks for that.

Well welcome, and I'm glad you're interested in the mod.
I haven't gotten into Portugal much yet, but when I do you might be able to help. I'll see about that.

Damn... shame on me it's Europe 1200... (https://www.mbrepository.com/file.php?cid=1&id=1219)
I was so excited by your project I jumped on this one. I'm sure looking at the screens you're doing better. I'll try to not rush anymore and will check here later; I'll continue the native so i won't be deceived by a mod not complete.
(Making it perfect, but not too late... that's a problem for any game)
