Yeah, in '11 USA went through in group stage 2 on the damn home-away system. Home-away = OP.

As long as the teams' respective pings on their opponent's server is somewhat even (average for each team within 10-15 of each other) home/away is as fair as it gets for teams playing against teams from other continents. Only OP if there's a clear ping advantage.
