true,i say more quests and sreal time sneak into a town, not just script n text...

I hear ya but first they need to implement AI spotting -and thats a massive upgrade/overhaul. If you noticed, the AI always knows where you and each other are -there are no visual checks except for archers firing. Of course it could be added, but generally making a quality, believable system with potentially this many AI involved (1000+) is a major task. I'm with you in that I hope that makes it in.

And I'd love to see the elimination of the overworld map, or at least make it more immersive

You mean an open world map via Skyrim? That would be insane....and awesome. Everytime I load up Skyrim I'm disappointed by the stupid combat and wish that I could pimp round these lands with my sword chambered and ready to go. Could you imagine getting chased down by a group of horseman in that kind of landscape with M&B combat system? Sheet.

Yeah, and so other modders can use it..imagine..spying, assasinations, thievery.
And they shouzld make scenes more usefull, not just to show off...
True, but how insanely huge would the world have to be? I would love to see that happening, M&B having a lovechild with TES, but... It just seems... Impossible to achieve. The game world would be too big, using too much system resources. As for the combat, a few minor, mostly visual tweaks would... just make it feel new again. And little touches such as sweetspots and finishers. But nothing over the top that might ruin the realism.

Yes....until you use a retarded engine that allow to use 10-30 max people on the same screen at max it would use too many resources.

I would rather like scenes to have npcs for quests and story...something realistic about warlords etc...animations and beds, doors like in MP..

Why is it that so many people think that eliminating the "overland" map would be a good thing? Sure it sounds fun, but actually imagine slowly trodding along your troops . . . You'd become tired rather swiftly and it would be near impossible to acheive anyway. If anything they should simply expand upon the scenes and the RPG features as to make it more immersive.

This is the first time I opened this thread...are they really saying that?! That's insane, it's one of the game's major defining features.

The overhead map for SP can't go away dude. They are talking about the quest scenes I think.
In both cases, I think armies move around too easily in this MB.
Maybe add a supply lines feature that you have to manage in cities that determines how far you can go into enemy territory. I just would like more overall strategical elements here. Paradox publishes several top class grand strategy games, maybe we can see some addition to M&B2

New game should have options like this.

The engine is dying trying to do all of that. I'd rather not.

Second video doesnt show how it runs with active players and bots.
That's not true, it runs surprisingly well, the performance impact is fully acceptable on modern GPUs (tested on GF8600GT).
Besides it's only a visual effect, you can turn it off without any consequences on gameplay. Really I don't see any reason why it should not be implemented in M&B2, it's easy to do and fun to experience.

I highly doubt that is a real release date and description, they probably just put that up as a filler otherwise other sites would also have it.

War of the Roses is being developed by someone else I think?
It is. It's being developed by Fatshark, and it utilizes a completely different engine...

They said in an interview that they aim for consoles and multilayer (that means perks and other console mp game nonsense). So I wouldn't expect it be better than warband even, though noone can tell before it comes out.
